Really interesting museum with lots to see. It's more than just an oil museum. The museum has displays of early settler life in Butler Co., Kansas. The physical displays of oil exploration devices are incredible. On the day we visited, docents were firing up an oil drilling rig. When I have thoughts of oil (if ever I do) I think of Texas. This area of Kansas was a major player in oil exploration and production. To a non-native Kansan it was a real education.

Wonderful museum. My daughter keeps asking when we can go back. Loved it. It has something for everyone. The fact feel to the history buff. And the inner child in us all.

Man what a Deal. This is the Best Oil and Gas Museum in the United States and has more exhibits and real stuff than most of the Museums in Texas and the Nation. Yes there are Rotary and Cable tool Drilling Machines that date back 60 years and these all steel drilling machine stand erect to prove this existance. The Gypsy Spudder #5 was manufactured in Chanute, Kansas by Sutcliffe Pipe and Supply and is the showplace of Cable Tool Drilling in the 1940"s in Eastern Kansas. Go see this Museum, look at the old Star Spudder and the late model Rotary Rig on the Museum Grounds. Included is the Gypsy Spudder #5. You won't be disappointed and now you can see why Oil is $100 per bbl and gasoline for your car is $3.50 at least. Sincerely, Ron Sutcliffe Midland, Texas 2013. I donated the Gypsy Spudder Number 5 on the Concrete Slab in Front of the Museum in Downtown Eldorado,...

Visited today with 2 sons who enjoy history and seeing how things work, we had a great time! We started out inside and saw a movie about it and the area around El Dorado, some scale models to show how rigs work, and then outside to get up close to rigs and other fascinating equipment pertaining to the oil field. We gave all of that a good inspection, then turned a corner and they have some old time buildings set up for people to look at. They have a general store, Dr office, school, newspaper and the oil office. We really enjoyed it. There is...
