Absolutely horrible experience at this library. They are predominantly a children’s book library and the very first time we came in and took out books, my 19 month old ripped a section on the very last page of one book. The person in charge told me that they couldn’t take the book back and would charge me full price for it. We have a substantial amount of experience with library books at other county libraries and most books we have come in contact with have rips or tears. What kind of place provides books for toddlers and then charges if they rip a book? They are literally kids. We were able to fix the rip with a piece of tape and it’s barely noticeable, but when speaking with the woman again on the phone, she made it clear that it didn’t matter and they would go ahead with their “process and procedures” anyway.
For a small library who is making a point to try and set up children’s activities and events, I think it’s so sad that you would intentionally penalize toddlers for mistakes. The book is in no way ruined and I feel incredibly uncomfortable even returning here or being around...
