Paris to rent a car and drive for four hours with three small kids only to be told they were short staffed and didn't have time to take us through. Staff not helpful at all times me I should have read the website, I told them I did read the website and shoes the lady the page I read it all from and she told me the reservation was on a different website, how the heck was I supposed to know that! We finally asked for a manager who said we could go with the group into the first room for 30 minutes and they charged us over $20 and took us to the first room for 8 minutes! Then as the group went on they made my family go out the entrance, my mom asked the guy taking us out to show the kids the heartbeat of the cave and he just said no he didn't want to take the time. I guess they only take 20 people at a time as to not show down the growth of the cave but it doesn't make sense because they take group after group. Also the groups only had 17-18 people and my family offered to split up but were still told no. So the cost of a car rental, 8 hours of driving and 20+ dollars all for seeing one little cave from for 8 minutes. Three of disappointed kids who missed a day of school on top of everything. Also each guide makes sure to spend a lot of time making you feel guilty for being a human visiting a natural park, we got a whole lecture on how our clothes make lint that they have to clean out of the cages 2x a year. Seriously people back off the stupid rules and let people enjoy the amazing things the world...

Don't miss this beautiful place!

Located inside of Great Basin National Park, this tour shouldn't be missed. Here are some quick tips:

Book ahead as these tours are popular I highly recommend the 90 min tour for just $10 Bring a sweater because it's chilly inside Don't forget your camera & go picture crazy Get lost & forget about the world :)

All tours are guided & it's super interesting to learn about these type of natural wonders. The tour guides are awesome & keep you going at a great pace. Tours are limited to about 20 or so people creating an intimate experience. You'll see so many beautiful formations and they can remind you of things you'd find in the ocean or body parts. Let your imagination go wild here...

It's dark, wet, romantic, at times can feel a little scary and just beautiful. You'll feel water drip on you occasionally and the tour guide says it's the cave kissing you :)

They say back in the day people would crawl into these caves with candles and you can see the writing on some of the walls from their visits. I can only imagine the things that went on in here...

I loved every minute and it's truly fascinating. Don't miss this very special place and it's worth the visit even though it's in the...

Great Basin national park in Nevada (@greatbasinnp) is a beautiful destination that I don’t believe is talked about enough! This national park has a 13,000’+ peak, alpine lakes, lush meadows, some of the oldest trees in the world (bristlecone pine), the only glacier in Nevada, and even caves (not pictures, permit and ranger-led tour required for Lehman caves). We recently visited, and I was thoroughly impressed. We visited this cave in July 2022. This is a very neat cave. It was a burial place for the native Americans many, many decades ago. So when you go in the first part of the cave, you are asked to be quite as a way to show respect for those who were buried there. The formations inside the cave a wonderful. They paved the paths some 50 years ago because there was and is today a place where water gets in the cave. They didn't want to have people walk on muddy ground so they took action. The tour we took was about half a mile long and was done in about 1 hour. We visited many rooms which they gave names to them. Sad to see some people broke some of the formations. Hopefully they can grow again but as we were told, some of the formations took them more than 100 years to be where they are now. Good thing is that there were only a few that were broken. But for the most part, they are all in good shape and care. It was worth the visit to learn its history as well. If you visit the Great Basin National Park, come visit this place.
