This is our least favorite hiking spot of the four Scantic River hiking spots. There are shorter paths that were not fully developed. During the summer it is a good spot to get down to the river to swim in. If you planning on hiking I recommend the fall and winter months when the prickers have died down. The water crossings are a little hairy so be prepared to practise your balance when crossing the streams. The hike in the winter is great though. You can see a lot of the forest, great views of the river, and hidden grottos for hanging out. Even a bad hiking spot is better than sitting inside and this isn't a bad spot. Hopefully this spot will be cleaned and cleared better in the future.
It looks like more has been cleared and more paths have been added. This was our second winter hike of the year and walking through the snow and watching the river are so calming and relaxing.
