Living between Tampa and Bradenton, we have lots of options for beach days. We tend to shy away from the St Pete beaches and the AMI beach situation is absolutely dreadful for parking. In fact, several of the parking locations along Cortez and Coquina are under construction. There is simply no place to park.

We opt for a more rustic, less populated, albeit a slightly farther drive, to Blind Pass on Manasota Key. Not to be confused with the Blind Pass at St Pete.

Parking is plentiful but get there early (as in all beaches). I never understood why the masses wait until 11am to try and go to the beach and then complain about parking. Duh.

Facility building is usually well maintained. There are no life guards here.

We always set up our living room for the day along the back near one of the access points and enjoy the view for the day. Setting up back there makes it much easier for packing up and departing too.

Halfway between Manasota Beach and Englewood Beach, Blind Pass is a perfect location. Especially for those awesome sunsets!

And please note, we have had way more success here finding shark's teeth than we have at Caspersen or Nokomis....

Forget being around tourists, this is the locals beach. Tons of parking, with showers and bathrooms. It has never been to crowded to get a good spot, and on a calm day, it's the best place to be. One secret bonus to this beach vice the others, are the amazing amount of shark teeth that can be found here. They're everywhere! Also, for divers and snorkels, there is a chance you'll even find megalodon teeth here. While the water is often cloudy, it does clear up from time to time, and provides an easy access to a small reef. The only issues that I see here are there are no life guards on duty, or cose enforcement. The beach itself has a foot to 2 foot drop right off the breakers. Not much to worry about, but could cause an issue for smaller children or older adults trouble getting in and out of the water. Personally, this is my family's favorite place to be, and highly...

Caspersen Beach has been our Fl west coast go-to for a few years now, but we decided to try Blind Pass Beach yesterday on a (2.5hr drive) whim. We lucked out and arrived right after a storm drove away most visitors, it was overcast and breezy the rest of the afternoon.

Observations: Plenty of parking, although there are many puddles after a storm and the surface is mucky. Makes for tricky clean up. Shower is useful but may not be accessible on a busy day. Bathrooms are decent but make sure to have wipes/hand sanitizer ready.

My first scoop of shells yielded 3 small shark teeth. Nearly every scoop produced at least one tooth. As the tide came in, we spotted teeth just washing up. There's a shelly shelf where I'd imagine some larger teeth might be found. We're definitely headed back soon to find out. Overall, great location (when it's...

Excellent beach with lots of parking even on the weekends. Outdoor shower for rinsing off as well. Lots of sandy spots to spread out. We came in March so had a stupendous breeze which was so refreshing. We used sunscreen several times. You can't tell how intense the heat is because of the cool tropical breezes. Fun to watch the piping plover scoop up tiny crustaceans while dashing back and forth with the waves. Pelicans flew by in groups and glided by all day. We also saw some reptiles basking near the tree and beach area spots. One guy barely glanced at me as I took his picture. Nice family and senior beach with a really nice mix of friendly people. Loved this beach and would recommend for sure! Bring a screen and shovel to hunt for sharks teeth along the waters edge. #RockFromRI

Whenever I'm in Southwest Florida, this is my go to place for Shark tooth hunting. The photo is of an hour or so on the beach. Not a bad haul, but no real trophy teeth this time. I just surf hunt, but I'm sure those with the sifters find some real nice teeth. I'll hit it up one more time before we head back north. But this park is more than just a beach. It has a short nature trail, kid's play area, kayak launches and more... It is on a narrow stretch of the key and has boundaries on both the gulf and intercoastal. Probably the best thing I like about it is, it's out of the way and not as crowded as the more popular beaches. Although, spring break can bring the crowd. No shops or touristy attractions around it either. So if you're into out of the way places, this a beach for you.
