Personnel: My husband and I chose hard mode for our wedding. We got married at Crystal Mountain Resort in early September 2023. However, we reside on the east coast. We had to be able to rely on our vendors to be communicative, clear, and honest. We worked with Kalela Robinson and Andria Wunder for our wedding. They were a real delight to work with, especially in the final days leading up to our event where my nerves were frayed due to impending bad weather. Thank you to Kalela, Andria, and their incredible staff all over the resort (from gondola workers to their kitchen and serving staff) for the outstanding support we got on our big day! You all were amazing!
Pricing/Admin: Getting married here is expensive, so expect to spend big, not just for your venue fees, but for everything else. If I had a criticism, it would be that I wished I got more thorough pricing at onset. Taxes owed for our 2nd half of venue fees really hurt - this was not included in our original agreement (it just said plus tax). I also wish there were a tool to play with catering costs, headcount, etc.
Location: We selected the Mt. Rainier platform for our ceremony site and the Rafters as our reception site. If you’re looking for an adventure wedding with that wow factor, this is the place for you. Mt. Rainier holds a special place in our hearts, so it was important for us to have a wedding with a view. Unfortunately, weather impacted our view on the day of. However, Kalela, Andria, and their team did a fantastic job of keeping us moving and our guests comfortable.
Food & Drink: Crystal Mountain does not allow outside caterers (except for dessert, I think). They were not cheap but food was great and drinks were awesome. After tasting, we opted for the most expensive buffet option just to get the halibut and prime rib, which was out of this world! Our guests loved it. Instead of cake, we opted for their ice cream sundae bar. Guests loved this too. Definitely get the seasoned fries. They were amazing as a late-night snack at the end of the evening.
Overall, we had an incredible experience getting married at Crystal Mountain Resort. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us and our guests, many of whom flew over from the east coast to watch us tie the knot. Thank...
Read moreRead moreHave a non skiing related hand injury otherwise you'd be reading an overly nostalgic novel about this gem of PNW snow sports. I will say the pandemic has hit everyone pretty hard BUT with that being said, I don't think Crystal has made a single improvement to it's services in at minimum 5yrs as that was the last time I skied there. IMO Crystal Stevens any day of the winter and at least then entire mountain is open which is not the case at Steven's. If you've been to Crystal in the past 2 decades expect literally the exact same facilities as the last time you skied there. From the cattle car shuttle from the parking lots, to understaffed ticket windows, terrible food (seriously bring your own. It will be better than anything you buy), to the gondola i never use an have never understood why it was built. Beyond getting people to the top of the mountain for the first run of the day it is pointless because I for one never want to ski all the way back to the bottom of the mountain every time. All the good stuff is up top so between REX, Chair 6, Green Valley, and the newish North back chair there is zero reason to ski all the way down to catch a ride back up. I will say that the opening of a lift in North Back is the best thing that mountain has done for it's customers since removing those pointless and idiotic magic carpets that were intended to speed lift boarding and did precisely the opposite. All that said, I have so much love for that mountain. I just wish they would spend money on improving the lodges and food vs that...
Stayed in the Village Inn for $280 for one night in summer after taking the gondola. This place is so overpriced! Better off making the drive back down the mountain and staying in town. We stayed on the 2nd level just over the reception. We could hear reception talking until 10PM. Then they started talking again at 9 AM. You get noise from the parking lot from everyone leaving the bars around 12:30 AM and we had a neighbor above us walking around until after 2 AM. Besides that, you know the walls are thin when you can hear your neighbors phone on vibrate. The place needs paint and it’s totally rundown. The ceiling tiles look like the old asbestos tiles form the 60s. I will never stay here again. I will say the room was clean. Sheets were clean. The receptionist was very helpful and kind. Everything is just old! You get a 20” TV and get to pick from the DVDs in reception. No tv stations or streaming. The restaurant was OK but again over priced! $30 for a plate of coconut curry chicken with undercooked rice and veggies. Everywhere you go it’s just a fortune and they’re trying to take you for everything you have. Besides that we planned our trip around the use of the EV charging stations from the resort which is unaffiliated with the hotels. To charge your vehicle on the mountain is over $100 for a full charge. Just make another plan and save yourself...
