Lake Dixon Park — Attraction in Escondido

This place is absolutely beautiful! We went on a nice warm day with a cool breeze last summer. We just wanted to check it out, so didn’t have a picnic packed or anything. As we came around the turn our breath was taken away by the gorgeous lake and reservoir. Just beautiful.

There were a good number of picnic tables with grills for BBQing. Each has a fantastic view of the lake, where you can rent foot paddle or row boats to go out on the lake. Note however that there is no swimming.

The bathrooms are easily accessible and included a handicap stall. They were clean and orderly so extra points there. Do you know how many public bathrooms we’ve been to that we cannot say that about? This was not one of them.

There were several squirrels running around making us laugh, and the place is great for awesome backdrop photography.

There is a snack bar for those who did not bring lunch like us. The grounds are well maintained, and everything is ready to enjoy without cleaning up someone else’s stuff. Everyone was so friendly.

If I have any issue with anything at all, it would be that there is not an easy path to the picnic tables for anyone in a wheelchair or walker. You have to literally climb uphill in the grass and tree roots without your DME to reach your destination. I’d like for management to consider that once reading this review and submit a proposal to change that. Of course this was last summer, so maybe they’ve improved it since then? A stranger came to our rescue to help me aid my mother in getting back down the hill, which was more challenging than going up....

Nice large grass areas and lots of walking paths to enjoy. They have covered picnic areas...
