Excellent source for women's work wardrobe. You'll find reasonably current styles of used and remaindered clothing including some premium labels in all sizes at reasonable prices. I've shopped here for 5 years and aside from occasionally lint or dust, I have never had an issue with the cleanliness of their stock.
They always staple the price tag with two staples, attaching to the hang tag inside the neck of the garment whenever possible. This makes the price easy to find and minimizes damage to the garment, but you'll want to use a staple remover because the tags really on tight. This is also a plus because they cannot sell an item that's missing its tag.
This is a popular place, worth a visit just to people-watch if you're not interested in buying today.
Only one thing I don't like: When I have been there in the afternoon, I noticed that they announced the store closing time every five or ten minutes for a full hour before closing time. Several times, I passed by Valley Thrift at 1 1/2 hours before close and didn't visit because I didn't want to hear those nagging announcements while I shop.
I'd also add, and this is no slight on Valley Thrift: If you're one of those people who lose their minds at the sight of a foreigner or a not-Anglo American, please visit Valley Thrift very late in the day when I won't be there to hear your nasty remarks. Please do visit though - getting out around new people will...
Read moreI cannot express in words how I was treated by both managers one female one male along with a worker that spoke no English which is fine only if she knew I was telling her at SELF CHECKOUT that I was just fine with bagging and scanning my own merchandise. She stood there with a grin shaking her head at elbow length from me as if I was going to steal the merchandise!!! They have done this every single time I go there! I told her again grashias (thank you) but I don’t need help. I scanned a lamp she went under the shade and pulled out a 2 inch in length wind charm as I had no idea was there!! $7.99 no I don’t want that I said she waved over the male manager as if I’m a thief he stood there to my left her to my right both grinning I said why are you standing there he said it’s my job! It’s my job! Repeating 5-6x with the smerk. I said I work everyday 3rd shift I come here spend hundreds of dollars a month I am NOT a theif!! He smiled said ok.. I chose to say I’m not ever coming back I’ve been dealing with this and never said anything but I let him have it by telling him I will never come back here your way over priced you have your workers stand on purpose at self checkout and make us buyers feel like you think we are all thief’s!!! The female manager came flying out the store exit screaming DONT COME BACK HERE!!! Ooooooooook!!! Do better business it’s a thrift store...
Read morevalley thrift is probably the best thrift store in greater cincinnati. and, since it's near some wealthier neighborhoods like blue ash & kenwood, sometimes the finds are absolutely amazing. like i got a brand new pair of timberland shoes for under $10. plus, there's a st. vincent de paul, right next door. which is better for furniture, household items & for discount days.
while it's true that some items are overpriced, by too much, there's also many more items that are underpriced, by even more. just don't ask them to change a price, or put a price on something, the people in back are not helpful. but, all the front cashiers, and other staff on the floor, are much friendlier than the back staff. i'm sure people asking for discounts are overwhelming for them.
as a big & tall man, i'm always impressed by how much they have that's extra large, etc. it's still a hunt to find them, but at least you can find them. for example, many stores never have men's shoes over size 10. and, for business or business casual men's clothes, some jackets, some pants & a lot of shirts, they have a lot of the larger men's sizes.
i like the 4 for $1 old vhs movies. but, dvd's & video games are over priced. you just have to pick & choose what their strengths & stock offers. and, go elsewhere, for your other needs.
stay safe. happy holidays....
