New owners bought the farm right as the Covid shutdown happened, likely losing business due to lack of weddings, etc. I feel for their unfortunate circumstances. With that being said, some feedback from a paying customer:
The woman behind the counter in the market store (who was NOT wearing a mask) was very flustered while explaining to the customer in front of me what the pumpkin patch/activity prices were as there was NO clear signage available to customers with clear pricing. The woman was juggling her children who were grabbing snacks, etc. When it was my turn next, I also wanted to know what we were paying for, wanted to make sure that I bought enough tickets for my kids. I figured it would be different than last year due to Covid restrictions, reasonable questions. She said to my group everyone listen so she doesn't have to repeat herself, which I found incredibly rude. Isn't that your job?
I suggested making clear signs for people and was told that there was signs and that the info was on the website, she was clearly offended as she asked for me to be patient! I told her I was, just trying to be clear. In addition, I WAS wearing a mandated mask so my voice was muffled, AND i was trying to keep an eye on my kids, etc. After trying to figure out where, one laminated paper sized sign on a sandwich board at the top of the hill before the activities is NOT clear for anyone. Nor is ADA sufficient. (Since being home I looked at the website, also NOT CLEAR) If it weren't for the fact that I was with my family, I would have left after the woman behind the counter was rude to the guest in front of me.
The website says to park in lot B, which was CLOSED and roped off. So another confusing aspect for customers.
When we got to the activities there was one person working! Which is understandable due to lack of funds, etc although who were we supposed to give our tickets too? Hmm...The kids had fun in the Korral and on the little train ride. The corn maze was fun and the farm itself is beautiful. I cannot say that it was worth what we spent although I am happy to have helped support a local business.
I am hopeful that the new owners read this so they can get a better understanding of customer perspective so they can make improvements. I know that life is hard right now. For everyone. IF you would like to give this place a try and support a local farmer, go for it! We visit this farm every year, and sadly this will be our last. I wish them the best.
There is also a fabulous farm we visited the day before right up the road, one price covered all of the activities! AND the signs were clear and the staff...
Read moreWe wanted to have a small wedding with approximately 100 people and wanted a place where we could have everyone enjoy the ceremony and reception at the same place. Carleton Farms definitely checked those boxes. Laura was great to us, immediately scheduling an appointment to show us around. It didn't take long for us to decide that this is where we wanted to have our big day. From our first visit, we saw a beautiful venue that had a lot of potential. However upon our 30 day check in we were surprised to see they had added on a viewing platform (with apple and pumpkin cannons to boot) just past the fire pit. Laura was great in adjusting our schedule to fit our time without breaking out budget. Never at any point did we feel pressured by her. The day of our rehearsal we were surprised to be greeted by Cheryl and more shocked that Laura was no longer there. This point would normally stop most but Cheryl immediately took care of us without hesitation. She continued with the professionalism and compassion that Laura had shown us. Wedding day rolls by and both Cheryl and Angel were friendly and helpful with our set up and coordinating with our DJ and caterers. For our playground package the staff was great in taking care of parents and their little ones. We couldn't be happier with them taking care of everything and supporting us on our big day. If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful venue with plenty to do check them out....
Read moreMy husband and I got married at Carleton Farms in September of 2014. Although it was a relatively new venue for weddings at that time, the detail of the venue blew us away. The sun was shining which made the view from the courtyard spectacular. The view of the corn fields and pumpkin patch in mid September was enjoyed by all parties while we got married in the outside courtyard. The wagon wheel light fixture in the middle of the barn was stunning--for us it was amazing to have a rustic feel, but it did not go over the top. Not only was the venue visually pleasing, but the event coordinator Stacy hit a home run. She was kind, accommodating, and took time to think of new ideas to make sure our day was perfect. Any bride would be blessed to have her expertise to guide them through the details of their big day. This wedding venue is unlike any other because it's so versatile. We set up dinner and drinks inside with dancing and lawn games outside. Our guests are still raving about how perfect the venue was and how much fun they had. My husband and I had a great time too, and felt so welcomed by the staff there. If you are looking for a versatile wedding venue with character, look no further. Carleton Farms will continue to be successful as they grow as a venue and a staff. This venue is a great win for any...
