Pear lake is one of the many beautiful alpine lakes situated within the Sierra National Park. Situated at the foothills of Alta Peak, the views are magnificent, with the lake nestled within the snow capped mountains on one side and the fir and redwood trees on the other.
The lake can easily be planned as a 1-day hike. The trail is clearly marked and you will come across the Heather Lake and the Emerald Lake along the way. The trail starts at the Wolverton trailhead, which is also the starting point for the Alta Peak trail. The total distance is around 13 miles and the elevation gain is around 3000 feet. The hike is slightly strenuous and may not be ideal for children.
This is one of my favorite trails here as it starts within the Fir, Pine and Redwood trees and then opens up to provide magnificent views of waterfalls and valleys within the Sierras. The walk for the most part is easy with gradual elevation gain. The lakes along the way provide excellent stopping points to not only catch a breadth and rehydrate, but also sit, relax and admire the view.
One of the highly recommended and must do hikes in the Sequoia...
