Nothing Better than the Georgia Renaissance Festival. A staple for fun and nice welcoming people from staff to festival attendees. It's been a minute and there wasn't enough tine in the day. Our 8yo had a blast.
We got some new garbs unlike we could ever buy before so we thought we looked pretty good. Shops were great, all the shows and entertainment were great as always, the company of everyone else was so friendly and as social as you want it, the Tortuga Twins are back!!, and just Awesome as always!
40 year anniversary! They sold out of ceramic mugs because they were such a hit ticket. I have collected them dated back ro 1994, 2 of the years before I 1st went from my mom, so I really hope they do a Fall Festival this year. If I'd have known I'd have gotten my silver Stein engraved with the date but we were at closing. The kiddo stayed the entire day which was so much fun.
All the rides, they have a new dungeon museum with creepy cool history and life size depictions, food always so good and I at more than usual, and the kiddo made so many friends. I would say this was one of the best years I ever had in near 30 years.
You can't beat it and I would say it's just amazing. Just don't forget your pocket book and ensure you visit everywhere before you make a purchase because you want to make sure you don't see an item somewhere else you might like better.
There is not a video or picture online, that I've seen, that encapsulates the experience. It's transformative. Something that is a must do at any point. Every weekend is a different theme but come in your street clothes or dress out however you feel either matching the period, weekend theme, or whatever you feel. All are truly welcome.
I've worked around the nation and I don't think there are many as good as Georgia's. I haven't been to Texas' or Colorado's, or any other but I've seen the commercials while in town, which I hear are as good as Georgia. It's top tier. Extremely diverse, there's not a person that doesn't enjoy the festival except those allergic to fun. They had camels there to ride. The Joust everyone loves though we get stuck at the shows.
For instance, the Tortuga brothers start PG at the early show and the ratings progress from there getting more adult themed each show and hilarious. Washboard wenches a much we didn't see this year. All the bands and music you want. All hand crafted items from professional craftspeople. You can come with a little money and have some fun or you can spend a good penny but come out with some chain mail, beautiful plated mail that you can't even dream up, any style of clothing, and that's just wearables.
There's face painting, weapons, crafts of all sorts, scents and oils, toys, copper art, 5' dragons to little shoulder guys that move and nod with a push of a wire. Toilets are clean. Plenty of mead/beer and any refreshments you want. Teas houses and coffee shops. If you want it then you will find it here. I am still rushing with excitement after leaving 4 hours ago. We've come with the entire family and everyone just got their fill whether it be a few hours or you stay 'til close & come back the next day.
I can't say enough and I can't describe what you'll see because it's always different and always incredible. You will leave with a story. They have 1st aid stations, it's secure, you can throw axes/other weapons at targets or you can throw tomatoes at a guy's head while he tosses hilarious insults. The 2 young girls got him good better than most any that stepped up at the time. Wolves that's mouths move when they speak, it was crazy. Gave my son an 8th piece and dropped some knowledge.
People in character, people showing their finest, and people just enjoying a good time. They added a pub crawl in recent years which is a good tour. With the little one I don't drink which made it just as rich. Pick your own flavor, make your own adventure.
If you hate it them blame me. I would be as confused not realizing there were people not looking to have the most incredible experience for a fair...
Read moreThis review is strictly about the customer service experience I received over the phone. I have never attended the festival as I was hoping to have a first time within the upcoming months. My friend linked me the website to purchased the tickets, we both saw that it was offering BOGO Sweet heart or something admission tickets and it was set to expire the offer on Feb 19th. I unfortunately didn't ask for the name of the lady I spoke to because she seemed like she was trying to be helpful when I first called in. I explained that I saw this offer and attempted to purchase this several times on my iPhone, it wasn't working, I had my friend try, it wasn't working. I tried on a different device, it still wasn't working which is what prompted the call. I kept getting an error message saying it's invalid. The customer service rep said, she tried searching the website and it wasn't there and OF COURSE when I hang up the website stops showing it after refreshing it (mind you, my friend and I refresh 100 times, trying out the code bc it was just showing on there every refresh WHICH IS WHY I CALLED) but then she said she would contact her manager about possibly honoring the admission because she said, the date on that is incorrect and it was expired on the 14th of Feb; which in my opinion, DOES make sense, but it was the fact that I was STRUNG along about this promise of possibly honoring the admission really pissed me off as she had NO intent on getting back to me. I called 4 hour later on the same day, still no information on when I'll hear something. I send her multiple screenshots showing that it shows the Feb 19th. I call back a day later, she says she's still waiting on the manager to give her an answer, and that shes accusing me of altering the picture and that the website does not give an error when you apply a code. ACTUALLY MISS, IT DOES. She does not know how the website works, and said it with sheer confidence that I was wrong, so I sent her MORE screenshots testing the behavior to show that it is INFACT apart of the website. She continues to say, she's waiting. I wait 3 more days, no response. I ask for updates, NO response. I would have been PERFECTLY fine with her just saying, "Hey, I honestly don't know why it's showing but the correct date on that is suppose to be 14th and we wouldn't be able to use it anymore" and I can go about my day and purchase normal admissions for me and my friend. I LITERALLY only inquired about it because it was happening to me and my friend and I was confused on why. I do not appreciate her behavior, the time I wasted, the inconsistencies. All of...
Read moreThis was my friends and I first time coming to the Renaissance festival. When we had arrived we were so excited until this lady in the purple dress pictured below was VERY rude to my friend. Instead of greeting us and nicely telling us that dress codes have changed she yells at my friend in front of SO many people telling her that her “cheeks” were showing and her cleavage were out “a little too much” and was not “appropriate” to wear into the venue. My friend entire “cheeks” were covered and she barely has any cleavage. (The picture of said cheeks being out is below in red) She then proceeds to ask if she has anything in the car to change into and tells her if not she can rent a costume from the costume rental booth. The women in the booth were very nice and understanding they were apologetic for what happened but that lady should’ve apologized! She hurt my friend’s feelings and most likely embarrassed her in front of so many people. The women in the costume rental told us that three weeks ago a lady had flashed some people so the dress code change. How were we supposed to know that?? That doesn’t call for this lady to humiliate my friend in front of SO many people before we barely stepped foot fully into the check in area! Not to mention there were so many women in the festival that had bustier cleavage out, their cheeks out, even one girl had a mesh corset on with PASTIES on her nipples! We honestly feel as if it were racial motivated. Please do better next year because this might have been a deal breaker for us to come back ever again. We did enjoy our time and my friend received so many compliments with her improvised outfit! I would love to come again but if this is how people will treat others I will...
