I will never come back to this dog park again if it invites people who drive others out. I had taken my 9 month old labrador to train there for socialization skills, confidence building, and service training against distracting environments. I didnt stay here for more than 10 minutes as another woman's labrador kept following us around, which isnt the dog's fault by any means. The woman could not recall her dog back to her well enough and blamed me for it, having to drag her dog away by her collar each time she wouldn't listen to her. I don't fault the dog, as a dog will do what a dog will do with treats around. None of the other dogs were doing this behavior though, it was only her's. The second time it happened, I had apologized to her and told her I was trying to train with positive reinforcement treats. She proceeded to drag her dog back over to the pool area. After the third time it happened, she proceeded to berate me and my dog in front of my sibling. Telling me, "can't you just go somewhere else? Go take you and your dog somewhere else to train if you're not going to use the pool. You shouldn't be here doing that." My purpose was to stay away from the other dogs for exposure to the new environment to get my dog used to everything, but it was her dog that kept coming back to us. She would not leave us alone and I had to keep backing away until this woman told me to go away. I had considered taking my dog to another section, but there were a pair of collies who growled at us at the fence line. So I proceeded to leave with my sibling and my labrador, I will not be coming back here if this public area proceeds to attract rude individuals. I also see irresponsible owners too, as there were poop spots that looked to be left there for hours, even days. People dont pick up...
Read moreI love the design of the park and the idea behind it! That being said, i've never been to a dog park that had such judgmental, rude, downright weird and impatient people. I've also had issues with owners not being able to control their dogs, and dogs being aggressive. Example: My dog is on the bigger side (st Bernard/standard poodle mix) but will not hurt a fly, a small dog kept running up to snip at her and bite at her and the owners wouldn’t get off the bench to intervene, so I would get in between them to essentially make the small dog go elsewhere and so we would walk for a little while, and then to no surprise, the smaller dog would then come barreling towards mine. My dog then went to go run away and they ended up tumbling over eachother which made the smaller dog whimper. It was only THEN that the owners jumped into action to which led to judgmental stares in my direction from the group they were with. I of course stayed to make sure the small dog was okay, but the owners were quite rude about the entire situation and because they were there in a group, I felt I had to leave even though my dog was not the aggressor. Im not a huge stickler on rules but if your dog doesn’t know how to play nice, then don’t bring them. Or if they are into aggressive play, then you need have your small dog in the small dog section where it can play with...
Read moreWe absolutely LOVED this dog park!
There is a large pool area with a diving dock for the dogs to swim (there are stairs and ramps leading into the water) as well as a large yard in the same area with tree shade, multiple water spickets for dogs to drink from, two/three large sized playyards (separate from the pool play yard), and many benches in the sun and shade to sit down on! Two gate entrance so risk of escapes are greatly minimized. Off leash play allowed.
As with every public dog place, THERE ARE RISKS TO TAKING YOUR DOG TO THEM!
There was a dog fight when we were here, where a poodle mix pinned down a small lab. The poodle mix mom did nothing to pull her off of the poor lab. In no way, shape, or form is it the parks fault. Like most other public dog parks, there are no attendants, so every owner is responsible for taking care of their own dog. Don't bring your dog to this beautiful place if they are not well behaved and/or they are aggressive!
I absolutely recommend this park if your dog loves the water!
Some suggestions for whoever owns this dog park: More shade for the dogs and people other than just the trees! Tables with umbrellas scattered around the whole park would be a...
