Thanks to Dobey for treating us to a wonderful experience at the John Philip Falter Museum. The space is inviting and perfectly maintained! Dobey and her husband made it feel even more welcoming with their genuine friendliness and an interest in us, the visiting guests.
We learned things we didn't know in an introductory video, and had a chance to pause and study the illustrated covers on display. Dobey was able to tell us personal stories of the artist that made the visit that much more special.
Even though we aren't from Nebraska, we now have a fondness for the former Falls City standpipe. :)
If you appreciate the work of John Philip Falter this museum is a must for any fan. If you're not a fan, you might just become one after stopping by...so do make the trip!
After returning home, we found out our local university museum in Lawrence has a John Philip Falter piece in their collection. We are so excited to go see it! So, thanks for sparking our continued interest!
John Philip Falter is really not talked about enough, but he's one of the greats and perfectly captured living daily life, the American dream, and evoked so many feelings within a single illustration-- feeling the wet from the rain, riding a bicycle down a hill, and looking down on your hometown on winter's day.
Many thanks to everyone that keeps this wonderful museum up...
Read moreOn a little visit to Falls City, Nebraska, this museum was a happy find to be open on Sunday. It's free to the public, but donations are certainly appreciated. We had a delightful visit with lots of information from Curator, Dobey Falter Haws. She is lovely and very interesting. Falter had a style/subject matter similar to Norman Rockwell so his work is like a magical step into another time and place. Definitely recommend...
