Best trail I have walked in Missouri thus far. We only did the north loop, but was still a fairly taxing experience for us at nearly 7 miles. Loved the pine trees and the fragrance through most of it was that fantastic pine scent.

About half the trail follows Pickle Creek. I brought my ultralight rod and fished each deepish hole I could easily access. Caught something on almost every hole. Nothing large, maybe a 9" smallmouth being my largest, but I considered that a lunker for this small creek. Saw other wildlife like lizards, toads, and deer along the way.

Enjoyed a backcountry stay. Be aware some sites might be more prone to flooding than others. Check topo maps and forecast. Beware ticks are prevalent. We did not have an issue with mosquitos.
