This is by far my favorite dog park for me and my dog in Knoxville. I have a pug who needs shade and ways to cool off. When we go around 7pm most days, my dog absolutely loves having the shade from the park and trees and the opportunity to cool off in the water - although he still won't go swimming!!!
This dog park has a reasonably sized small dog area. It has a big large dog area with a walking trail that runs the perimeter, a large gravel space in the middle, covered seating for the humans, and grass that runs the perimeter. The park butts up against the river so dogs can jump in and swim - this section is fenced off so you don't need to worry about your dog getting in the water if you don't want them to. Be advised there is no gate or fence preventing dogs from swimming across the river, but there is a boat rental business that kind of shuts off the area (although not totally). There's even a dock for dogs to use to jump into the river if they like and large rocks that my dog loves to climb near the water.
There are gendered restrooms at the entrance for humans - a fountain with a dish for drinks for the dog and a little handheld shower for a dog bath.
This is a fantastic dog park that I just cannot recommend enough as long as your dog won't swim away from you in open water. Otherwise I'd suggest one of the other dog...
Read moreThis place was incredibly disapointing. We took our 3 Boston Terriers for play time and found the small dog park to be underwhelming. It was the size of a small backyard and was not equiped with any activites such as agility runs, etc., like other dog parks we visited. There was no fresh water or clean up stations and the benches for dog owners were inconveniently placed. You have to go through the large dog park to get to fresh water but all the dogs were off-leash and kept approaching our dogs and we didn't feel safe. While we were filling one of the bowls from the water hose (none of which were available in the small dog park) a dog came over and splashed the water from the bowl over all of us. The owner didn't call the dog nor did we know to whom it belonged. You also have to go through the large dog park to get to the water for the dogs to swim. Once we finally got there after shooing a number of large dogs away from our little ones, they were too stressed to go in the water. While sitting on a rock (no other seating is provided by the water) a dog peed on my leg! There was no apparent owner and no one said anything or offered assistance. I had to wade into the water myself to wash off my leg and shoe. We left after 30 minutes extremely disgusted! We will never visit this...
Read moreI would give it a 5 star if I had not just drove 30 mins to bring my dog so he could swim but irresponsible parents think bringing infants and small kids into a dog park is ok. Do parents not realize that there are some dogs, like mine, who are scared of kids. He would never hurt one, but I am not willing to take that chance with my dog and someone else’s kids. Not to mention that the parents dog will be over protective with their kids, and things could so easily turn ugly in a split second. So parents please be considerate and don’t bring your kids into a dog park!! There are a million parks for kids but a limited amount for dogs, especially ones they can have fun and swim at. Now my dogs day is ruined because of this irresponsible thinking of parents with small kids thinking it’s just fine to bring their kids where there are 20 different dogs, not caring if a fight broke out and god forbid their kid got hurt! Be more responsible! There should be a rule at ALL dog parks that kids under the age of 10 should not...
