This is my third visit to Concord Park, and it is a mostly pleasant experience... It definitely needs more signs or a map posted for newcomers. The whole park is divided by three sections separated by two bridges.
The first section includes the skate park, roller ball court, dog park, and Lakeside Tavern restaurant. The skate park is very basic: flat with one grind rail and one ramp. The dog park is enclosed to the water so they can't escape. I am quite surprised I haven't heard any dog fights while I was touring today. The Lakeside Tavern will be a separate review if I ever visit.
The little second section has the roundabout in the middle of it, but has a couple small docks for fishing and small watercraft. This is the least busy, but most spacious of the three.
The third section is the worst in my opinion. The traffic is always bad after 4pm because it is a single lane both ways and includes the youth ball fields, yacht club, River Sports arena, kids playfield & jogging park. If you are going southwest, you will be stuck here for about 15 if driving through. Northeast is...
Read moreI can only give this park and its 7.3 miles of single track trails 2 stars because since the use of the trails by walkers, hikers and runners has been ruined by mountain bikers. What numbskull at the Parks Department allowed mountain bikers to use these trails? Their presence has made this park very dangerous for pedestrians. I have come close on several occasions to being overrun by bikers approaching me from behind. Since most of the trails are not wide enough for a biker to pass a walker, they expect you to get out of their way. What's wrong with this picture? I think those walking these trails should have the right of way and if a biker wants to pass them he or she should first dismount and pass them on foot. I would like those who agree with me on this contact the Parks Dept. and let them know about this dangerous situation at Concord Park. This is a common sense rule and it ought to...
Read moreOverall great, but the dog park? Oh my oh my!!! It turns into a giant mud pit. Just expect it. I didn't even let my dog trek through it. I carried him over that mess through the entrance. The footing reminded me of treacherous mud pits that horses on turn out tend to create around gates during rainy seasons. Awful mess! Actually, with horses, you can engineer your footing to avoid this mess for better drainage. Okay, not complaining about the mud, just making note of it. Mud is mud. Still, it could be addressed as a future improvement to make the dog park even better. I'd love an area to hose off a dirty muddy dog....
