If you’re looking for great views this isn’t the hike but if you want a challenge (steep & rocky) I’d recommend it. If you want views and have the time stay on the trail until it intersects with the Fayetteville Trail, go down the steps, follow the trail to the road, go right and hop on the Kaymoor Trail for waterfalls and one of the best views of the bridge.

An amazing and strenuous hike in New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. Heavily forested but a well-maintained hiking trail. Trail head can be found driving the road from either Fayetteville or underneath the bridge. AllTrails lists this as strenuous, and the portion going up and down the hillside can be treacherous with the many rocks and leaves.

Personally the pay off for the trail isn't worth it. Yeah you get a great shot of the bridge from directly underneath it. But the trail leading to it is fairly steep, rocky and rough throughout. Considering that you hike about a mile in for one shot, I'd probably not do it again.

Easy free parking. Just under 1 mile until you arrive at a spot directly under the massive New River Gorge Bridge (so round trip under 2 miles). See the structure up close with nuts bigger than a fist etc. Super cool if you like that kind of stuff. Trail slow going after the beginning as it is rocky and steep at times. No problem if you just take your time and quit staring...
