A beautiful location, some great hiking trails and a really nice beach are the high points of this campground.
The beach has great views, long sandy walking options, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and shells and seaweed to comb through. Bathroom and showers to rinse the sand off.
The trails are maintained with easy access to roam around the park and campground. Large enough to pass others on the trail and marked fairly well.
The campsites are surrounded by mature shade giving trees full of squirrels, small birds and the occasional cat. There is regular park ranger presence driving through the park throughout the day. They seemed friendly enough.
They have placed giant boulders in the sites that suck for parking and walking around. Our site, 23, also had a giant log running along the side with a huge thick snapped off branch sticking out about 6 - 8 inches. If you forgot about this it would take sacrificial shin skin offerings as you tried to walk along the side of the vehicle. We have a roof top tent and working kitchen from the back of the vehicle, which meant these boulders and the log were always in our way. Site 23 backs onto a small ravine and is beside a trail heading down to the beach. This means no one camping directly to your right (when looking into site 23 from road) or behind you. Clear sightline to the people camping next to you on the left.
Most sites are fairly shallow with minimal lower shrubbery, the boulders prevent the positioning of vehicles as you wish. This means there is no real privacy from people in the site next to you, or anyone walking or driving through the campground.
The bathroom was filthy. I am not blaming it all on the hosts responsible, we as functioning humans should really do a little more to assist! The girls shower area had enough hair to make a full wig out of! On the walls, the bench, the mat and floor! GROSS! Someone left a pregnancy test on the sink counter (Good? News it was negative) garbage and wrappers tossed in stall corners.
No garbage bins anywhere inside the bathroom. (There are multiple outside to use) I assume it would just give another area for the spiders, cobwebs and mold to gather. The facilities were attended often, we came across them being tidied a few times a day. It just seems there needs to be improvements. More for the amount of campers? This would probably help prevent the guys peeing in the bushes around their campsite for the rest of us to observe. ( like they were marking their territory) A hose to spray down the shower area before or after use, with proper drainage that could accept the amount of hair females fail to collect in a brush and throw away?
There doesnβt seem to be βQuiet hoursβ or if they have them they are not enforced. Kids screaming all day, evening and late into the night. People with loud music for everyone in the campground to βenjoyβ and the sound of vehicles locking and unlocking nonstop. (If youβre in the site with your vehicle why do you need to keep locking and unlocking!?!?)
Something the park canβt control is the nonstop traffic noise from fart cans, turdboxes, and motorcycles βsaving livesβ with loud pipes roaring past at all hours. (They seem to love listening to themselves driving over the bridge outside the campground entrance)
Finally, this campground is under a major SeaTac flight path so at times there was a giant plane flying over you every 30 to 120 seconds.
Overall, you can enjoy the park and I am sure it isnβt always as dirty or noisy as it was for us during the first weekend of August. The showers have good pressure and really hot water, the toilets flush, they have potable water for dish washing. It is close to a nice sandy beach, you will see birds and squirrels playing all day, it is pet friendly and easy to access. Good luck with your choice if you do pick...
Β Β Β Read moreWe stayed here in the middle of May on our way to Sol Duc Hot Springs. First of all, we arrived 4 hours after the check in time to find our reserved spot occupied with an Airstream and the owner of it not at the site. We drove our truck and trailer back to the camp host location to ask why it was still occupied. He said he didn't know and to go find another spot that we liked. I pulled into spot #36, it was a pull through spot with a huge stump. The photo I posted was someone's else's busted light that hit it. Careful of that! My husband and I started to set up and the park ranger stopped by to tell us she had talked to the guy that had the Airstream. He somehow busted his awning to where it flung straight up in the air and was hanging on the roof! Okay, but it was quite evident he had no intention of leaving that spot since he hadn't packed any of his belongings up when we arrived at 5:00pm. Our name and site # was on the reserved list in the front, he should have saw that and the ranger should have be making sure all spots are vacated at the check out time.
After we finished setting up, we noticed our fire pit was full of garbage. Right about that time we noticed jet engines above, one airplane after another started landing and taking off close by. It was noisy. We decided to go on a walk around the grounds. Several spots had fire pits full of garbage and more garbage laying around the campsites. This is the first Campground we've been at where the spots were not cleaned after the people departed.
As we walked around we found a trail the led us to the beach. It was a gorgeous hike and the area on the way there was beautiful! This helped make up from some of the stuff so far. Loved the lush greenery on the trail and the stream. Didn't care to see that someone had tagged the walkway staircase with spray paint, that took away from scenery. We made it to the beach, it was small and very pretty! We took some photos and then we hiked back on the trail to the campground. We got back to our spot and someone two spots away from our campsite had a big diesel truck running. It was a tow truck loading someone's truck that had broke down when they arrived. That truck ran for an hour! We tried to relax by our campfire for about an hour, but the planes were too loud and it was all getting annoying. Finally went inside and went to bed. Still heard the planes inside our travel trailer. Around midnight there was a few here and there, but few enough to get some sleep. Then around 4:00am, four vehicles started up and idilled at different campsites for about. 10 minutes and then left. Relaxing at this place was non existent for us. Too much noise for a Campsite. Thankfully this was a one night stay for us on our way to our next campsite. I don't think we will return...
Β Β Β Read moreGreat for group or family camping. RV, tent or cabin camping options. Easy simple drive to recreation just downhill to the beach waterfront access park. Hiking trails from camp to the water are available, although steep. We reserved one of the cabins pictured is C2, self checkin during midweek was seamless note: extra car is additional $10 a day bring cash for self check in. Currently cabins are $81 a night. Camp host on site. Park ranger ever present and burn ban, illegal activity or unauthorized campers arenβt tolerated. Parking pad has room for two cars. Cabin 2 sleeps 5 although one is a bunk bed. Bedding mattress comfort was lacking on futon. Secure locking windows, screens, and a touch keypad instead of a key. Fan, A/C & heater with remote. Thereβs only two showers in the park however there are bathrooms throughout park. Masks are worn by some but not all indoor bathroom users. Ladies has 4 stalls and shower. Mens had two stalls urinals & shower. Separate cleaning agency handles daily cleaning. Windows and door were open for ventilation in restrooms. Showers operate on tokens 3 minutes per coin which are sold via coin cash machine at check in booth. Bring cash. Quiet, peaceful, serene, was our experience. Many birds, bunnies, slugs, rain, sun, beach combing and card games. Clearing near center path from C2 good for ball games, kids play or bat-mitten. Outdoor nature auditorium. Current Fire ban so bring propane stove. No good cell service using T-Mobile, Mint or Xfinity cellular servicesβ¦be prepared to leave your work completely behind! Next trip weβre bringing bedding padding or air mattress as some of the futon metal frame was felt through the aged pleather futon mattress. Jokes about sleeping on the βladder of successβ were had. Uncomfortable to sleep on unless you position your hip between the metal rods. Speaking of ladder, there was none for the bunk bed which is accessed by side rail only which was an issue for a taller 11 yr old. Areas to wash dishes behind restrooms, all our needs met. French press coffee is everything. Also bring food in airtight lockable tubs or coolers as ants were very diligent to clean anything left out in or outdoors. We really enjoyed our stay overall. Itβs pandemic era folks and delta variant currently running rampant our expectations are adjusted. Thereβs a welcome book with things to do & places to go and a journal to share your trip tips and reflections. Glamping at...
