For a trailhead, there are more features than I'm used to seeing. There is a small, clean, modern building, made to look antiquated, with two external water fountains, an indoor public unisex restroom and air conditioning! Just off the parking lot is a small playground, a pavilion with a picnic table and a few feet away is a seating area overlooking a marsh.

This is a surprisingly peaceful place to visit being that it's less than a half-mile west of I-95 and right on County Rd. 512. The trail is a great way to get back to nature and enjoy nature.

I have been here a few times over the last year; it seems the popularity of this park is growing, as it should. This is the southern entrance (I'm not sure if there is another one) to the St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park.

During my last visit to the trailhead, several bicyclists parked to take advantage of the semi-paved trail. The trail may not be paved around the whole preserve, I wasn't able to walk much past the walkway bridge over the interstate due to my one year old daughter getting grumpy in the heat. Speaking of, if you want to take advantage of the trail, use sunscreen. There isn't much shade available.

We went back to the park to take advantage of the air-conditioned building, refill our water bottles and let my my 6 year old daughter play on the playground. It might be small but she and the other kids enjoyed running around and playing on the swings, slides and climbing.

There is no seating in the building or on the covered patios. Inside are maps with interesting facts about the area and lots of brochures advertising other activities in the...

This is a shared public/ private partnership space that encompasses the old 1910 railway route from Sebastian to Fellsmere, the F.I.T. challenge course, along with a public park. The park facility, in Fellsmere, has parking, restrooms and a playground for small children. This type of cooperation would not have been possible without support coming from Indian River county, and the city's of Fellsmere and Sebastian Florida. To access the challenge course you will need permission and the contact information is on site. The old railway path is long, easily 5 miles of walking, jogging, and bike trails. The path connects the park to other facilities like the North county aquatics center. If riding with small children on the path be careful of the access roads that cross the railway trail, especially near the...

This is a terrific way to get out on a beautifully paved trail. It's extra wide with Florida's natural beauty for well over 2 miles without traffic (2 exceptions-2 small crossings). Lots of wildlife along the way. Great for walking, jogging, biking, backpacking, walking your pets, etc. It does get patrolled by Search and Rescue occasionally for assistance if needed which is a great benefit., but no other vehicles allowed. There, of course, are mosquitos that will be glad to dine with you anytime close to dusk, but the park is about to close shortly after dust up to 30 minutes. Gates are closed and locked then. Certainly worth the effort to enjoy this stretch of...

Attended a funeral procession at this location for Kyle Patterson. I am sorry that my visit there was for this reason; one of sadness for everyone involved. I was honored to be part of a tribute for a fallen officer. Plus the family and friends of those that knew him my prayers and wishes are for you. Sorry I had to discover this jem under these circumstances. But, The area as well as walkway is very well maintained, beautiful, and a place to visit to get back to nature. Nice area with restrooms, as well as a shelter forget-togethers out of the sun.
