Dear everyone,
Dreamland is one of the best, loving & amazing, places to go with your family. Everyone is nice, and never treats you rudely or acts disrespectful.
• To anyone talking about the dress code and actions of kids;
They had 3 more cops than they usually do (5 in total) they can't have their eyes on everyone 24/7. If they saw it, or someone brought it to their attention (which you should've done if you're so worried about it) they would've asked them to stop, and if they didn't stop their actions, they would be kicked out. Plain and simple.
For the dress code, parents allow their kids to dress how they do. It is not the skating rinks fault for how poorly kids dressed. (They weren't being 'racist') but denying them entry to the building b/c of their clothes (as long as they have pants, shirts and shoes) is like denying them the right to come in b/c they are a certain skin color, weird looks/height, etc! The skating rink doesn't judge you on anything and as long as you have the right clothes on, they will let you in.
• For people saying they're 'racist' for not letting you in;
They are NOT racist!!!! Apparently you are to simple minded to understand what max capacity is! They could get fined, shut down, or worse for not following the laws/rules set in place to keep everyone SAFE! They didn't let you in b/c it was PACKED! It was for everyone's safety!
Also there was not only '5' people there! There was 800+ (I think it was close to 850 but I know it was over 800!!)
• To people thinking it's trashy or over priced;
I have went to other skating rinks. One was a crappy wood floor with two small $5 disco's on the roof with horrible speakers. The other had no floor guard (which keeps everyone safe) and was a tiled floor with something to go over the top to smooth it out. Dreamland replaces the floor very often, and it is top quality! They replace the carpets when they get dirty, they change out prices and games. They offer a great laser tag game! They have amazing speakers and lights EVERYWHERE! It cost a lot of money to keep all of this on for many hours a week! And then you have to pay for food and drinks. (They even have been adding more food to the menu for a wide variety for anyone!) STOP COMPLAINING that your $1 candy went up to $2 they could've raised everything's prices up, but they didn't! But they only raise the candy in the candy machine (and it is starting to cost a lot more for anyone to buy candy so that may also be a reason for price increase, as they can't just loose money)
They spend a lot of money on keeping everything up and running. Replacing things often, paying a good staff and a floor guard to keep you safe, etc! This is one of the best skating rinks to go to, if you don't like it, many others do. They don't need your service. There are people that come from 1-2 hours away (when they have a skating rink 15-30 mins away from their house) just b/c of how well kept and amazing the building, experience, and staff is!
• For people complaining about falling;
If you drive a car, you acknowledge the risk of another person crashing into you or your crashing yourself. It's the same with skating, you acknowledge the fact others could run into you, or you could fall from lack of experience.
If someone is going dangerously on the floor, a floor guard usually stops them! Sometimes they are to busy getting onto others or helping people to notice them. There can only be one floor guard as that would take to much space for another (especially when there's 800+ people!!!!) if you have a problem, alert them! That's what they're there for!! Stop complaining and take action.
I have been going to this skating rink for 5-6 years now. I have moved and tried out 10+ other skating rinks. I always come back to Dreamland. I go 1-3 times a week. I don't regret it, I don't have problems with it or the prices, etc.
Why? B/c they do their absolute best to keep everything together. And provide an amazing time while doing so! I would invite anyone to come out and try it for yourself. You...
Read moreThis place has employees with bad attitudes. It will ruin your entire experience. I showed up to my friends birthday party for his son. It took us 45 minutes to get skates. When I got to the front I was told I needed to go back to the front office and pay 2 dollars for a upgrade ticket. I ask her if I can come to the other window which they were not using and she said no I needed to wait in line. So I went to the front and spoke with the general manager and she confirmed that I must wait in the 45 minute line again. I explain that I'm here for a party and I'm not waiting another 45 minutes. The party would be over. I stated this is not how you should do business. She agreed and said she would radio the girl to exchange my skates for roller blades at the other window. I go back over there and I see the girl behind the counter look at me with a dirty look. She ignores me for a long time. Just as I was about to go up and complain again she finally comes. She tells me to go to the other window. I explain that the general manager said I could stop at this window with no people. She keeps repeating to go to the other window very rudly. I say look I'm not waiting in that 45 minute line again. She rudely says I didn't tell you to wait in line I told you to go to the other window. So I had to walk 3 feet to the other window and rudly cutt in front of all the people. While I'm doing this, she didn't realize it was my wife but she swopped her skates for another size at the window I had just left that had no people. Absolutely ridiculous. Meanwhile I'm stuck cutting 20+ people waiting in line. They are very rude and unprofessional. They need new staff. When I turned in my skates it was another girl and I said thank you. No response and a dirty look. I then go up to the same girl a little while later to return my son's skates, same thing. I say thank you very much and she doesn't respond just a dirty look. If your thinking about wasting money on a party realize they kick you out of the room 30 minutes ealy for clean up. So your 2 hour party is only an hour and 30 minutes. They brought drinks they must of made hours ahead of the party because they had no ice and were watered down to the point that no one would drink them. Also, be prepared to wait 45 minutes of your party time trying to get skates. This is unacceptable business practices. I will be turing them over to the better business bureau. They did not fulfill their obligations to the party that was paid for. If you want a good spot for a party, THE BOUNCE HOUSE is absolutely amazing. Such a wonderful experience. Staff was friendly, helpful, and respectful at the bounce house in pensacol located right behind party city. Their address for the bounce house is 6241 N Davis Hwy STE D, Pensacola, FL 32504. I hope I save many people a miserable...
Read moreETA: $25 to drop off anyone under 18* The calendar they post has this info in tiny font in the bottom right hand corner. It can be easily missed. I commented on one of their FB posts to point out the $25 admission, and they deleted my comment.
Initial review: I wish I had read the reviews before bringing my teenager to meet with some friends today. I am clearly not the only one who was caught off guard by this.
I checked the website for pricing, and seen that admission is $13 on Sundays. After dropping my daughter off, she called to tell me that they charged her and her friends $25 each.. due to not having a chaperone. Two of her friends were in a bind because all they had was $25 and they still needed skates. My daughter’s boyfriend kindly helped cover the extra costs.
It’s one thing to charge the $25, but a whole other thing when it is not clearly stated on their website. I spoke to an employee on the phone about this and she said it is posted on their door (which is useless when you are dropping off) and Facebook page. I will tell you where I found it, after combing through everything carefully.. it’s on the bottom right hand side of their calendar in teeny letters. I wouldn’t have read that part because my daughter brings her own skates and this information is thrown in after skate rental cost details. If I would have known that they would be charging her nearly double the price, there would have been different plans. She’ll be 18 in a year, maybe she will go back then.
I was told that the increase in cost is to help pay for the cop/security. Why not increase the cost of skating for all to help cover those costs? It would be a slight increase compared to the 2X charge as it would be covered by all paying customers. The officer is there for the benefit of all, right? But instead, we are charging kids nearly twice the cost of admission. As an entertainment facility that is greatly geared towards kids, Dreamland should be a staple for the children in our community, but they choose to overcharge them. I’m thinking this is more of a solution that Dreamland came up with to deter parents from dropping off kids.
Bottom line: Be upfront about the $25!!! So parents are informed and can then decide if they think that’s worth it for 4 hours on a Sunday when everyone else is...
