My current favorite public beach near Grand Rapids (for the last several years - I used to go to Muskegon to the dog beach or Hoffmaster) - I tend to go late afternoon/evening, not SO many people. Great place for the whole family. Picnic tables and grills are available here also. Parking is good. And yes, you need a state park sticker to get in or need to pay just like any other state park. Have fun and enjoy this sometimes...
