Pass Lake Loop provides a nice, quiet forested trail near the popular Deception Point State Park. The trailhead is near the boat launch for Pass Lake at the junction of Highway 20 and Rosario Road. The trail heads up into the forest on the west side of the lake. After about a quarter-mile, arrive at an unsigned junction with the Pass Lake Loop Trail. Continue on the main trail, which parallels the lake a little bit higher on the hillside, which allows you to keep your feet dry! At the ridge top is a short side trail over to a rock outcropping with a view through the trees down to the lake. The trail then goes downhill and levels out. About a half-mile from the parking lot is another junction with three trails to choose from to hike. At this junction, the Pass Lake Loop Trail goes left and switchbacks up the hillside. The Pass Lake Trail goes right and continues along the west side of the lake. The middle trail is the Ginnett Trail, which heads north to Ginnett Hill.

I've only hiked the Pass Lake Loop trail, which I believe goes through an old logging area? The old log road consists of large angular cobble. I don't know how to better describe it except it's a pain to walk on, especially for smaller dogs, and the trail uses this log road for a fair distance. It's also very muddy in spots, especially through the logged area. The trail outside of the logging area is quite pretty and enjoyable, but is not level. You'll hike up and you'll hike down. If you are out of shape, as I am, you'll feel the workout.

Great hike! Moderately strenuous, some rocks that were a bit painful with my Vibram shoes, but otherwise was a really nice stroll. Very nice to see quite a few points to stop at and take pictures of. Dog friendly, very few people for a Saturday morning. We did the Ginnet Trail extension.

Not my cup of tea with the abundance of options out there. Here's why: you never lose the sound of the hwy, you're never close to the lake but there aren't any views of the lake, either. The "loop" runs parallel to the lake and then switch backs UPHILL and further away from the lake for the the loop back. I don't really understand this hike... And I wouldn't recommend. It should just remain...
