The amount of times I have gone to deception pass side and mainly to the bridge for the past 10 years and I was impressed that I always saw the turn to come to this park by the lake (near the entry street) but never took it surprises me. I am glad that I pinned my nap to come here and find this jewel. This day it was not busy (2nd week of Nov) sí parking was not an issue! I had trash I wanted to get rid of but they don’t have them in the picnic area. So I had to keep it with me, they have signs that even if you come to a picnic and use it, to please take the trash with you. Anyways, restrooms were extremely clean and warm. There is a hidden building left of the parking lot. The path to the dock and to go to the hill is well maintained and there is a small entry to get to the beach area by the residential side. I did not go that side but I was able to see people walking on the beach. It was windy so bring hair ties or hats if having long hair and something warming so you avoid getting cold by the heavy wind. Once walking to the hill, the trees will protect you from the wind for a while at least. I enjoyed this park and the best part is that there is a cover picnic cabin side but also open where you can have your wood fired up and warming everyone while eating and using the chairs and tables with a view. I bet it would be nice to do this while snowing, I totally would like to come again while it snows. Last but not least, there are grills even though not in the best shape but still useful for cooking, big green are for kids and pets and the views are...
Read moreThis is one of my very favorite places. I love to walk around the circle trail that takes you through the woods and up around the cliffs. I love to sit up in the cliffs and catch some sun, relax and enjoy the Puget Sound. Its never overly crowded and you can also walk along the rocky beach. Wear good walking shoes here. Some of the trail can be a little narrow and steap but the trail isnt that long. This is a really great place for portrait photos. I did my children's here as they were growing up. The lawns have carpets of these little tiny daisies which are a great backdrop as well as large driftwood logs, the forest and if you look to your left right as you are coming in there is a beautiful little area with this tall stone wall with greenery and trees all around that is perfect for portraits. There are clean restrooms, picnic tables scattered here and there and a place to BBQ. I can't say enough about this park. Its a...
Read moreDrove out to Rosario today on a whim. I'm Canadian and haven't visited many American state parks - and oh my gosh. The buildings and amenities are so well maintained, beaches and trails are CLEAN (I didn't see a piece of trash anywhere).
The tide was somewhat high but you can still see the variety of aquatic life through the crystal-clear water. AND much to my excitement, saw a couple of porpises swimming in the distance.
Between the small trails, water front, stone beach, and picnic area - absolutely worth visiting.
There is a $10-day fee...
