Cute farm and maple syrup making. Team in barns is great. That gets them up to 2 stars. The breakfast buffet and flow/efficiency is negative 4. Seriously poor buffet experience. When you go in, finding the registers to pay for the food is the first of many problems. It is hidden behind the herd of patrons standing in the buffet line itself.
After paying $20/adult, $12/kid, time to get in line which wound up the steps. After 43 minutes of waiting in line, we made it to the front of the buffet. The trays (although just out of the dishwasher) had chunks of residual food on them. Blah. Not a welcoming feel.
After getting our food from a nice selection of pancakes, eggs, fruit, biscuits and gravy, we attempted to find a table. Alas, there were no available tables to sit, either downstairs or up. We stood at the edge of a bar shelf on the wall and ate. We're pretty flexible and can adapt, but this was not helped at all by the quality of the food. Or lack there of. Ugh. Just gross 🤢. Hard stale biscuits, gravy with casing strings, tasteless eggs. Fruit was good though, as was some piping hot coffee. Seriously disappointing food for a farm breakfast. I hoped for mediocre and received way subpar, and for $20 a pop nonetheless.
Visit for the farm. Avoid breakfast buffet...
Read moreThere are farms… and then there’s Hollis Hills.
This is community. This is intention. This is a family farm with heart and hustle. Jim and his crew are doing something special here, and it shows. Hollis Hills isn’t trying to be a trend. It’s just trying to be good and it wildly succeeds. It shows up in the syrup. In the berries. In the quiet joy of sitting with a cider donut and realizing this might be the most grounded you’ve felt in weeks.
The farm store is a treasure chest. Rustic without being kitsch, curated without being pretentious. Every product has a story, and none of them feel like filler. The maple syrup alone has fully ruined me for store-bought.
Weekend events are warm, unforced, and clearly built for real people. Familles, food lovers, and folks who just need a breath of fresh air that doesn’t smell like manufactured nostalgia. The pulled pork mac and cheese deserves its own fan club! Smoky, creamy, and no skimping on the good stuff. The drinks? Poured with a wink and a heavy hand. You’re not leaving thirsty.
If you’ve ever wondered what a functional relationship between farm and table looks...
Read moreThe band and location of venue was excellent but the food was disgusting! We paid almost $20 for a burger and almost $20 for the fried chicken sandwich. For those prices I expect edible food. My husband’s burger tasted like the cook had fried some type of fish item on the grill, didn’t clean it whatsoever and then cooked the burger on top of the fish flavored grease. It was the most disgusting burger ever!!! He had me try a bite and I spent the rest of the night trying to get the nasty taste out of my mouth. I don’t even know if they have fish items on the menu. I cannot stress how bad this burger was. Then the chicken sandwich was ruined by the enormous amount of some type of mustard sauce. The sauce was good but it was soaked! The chicken was no longer crispy, it was soggy. The bun absorbed a lot of the sauce too so that was also soggy. It was so messy and gross I had to eat the lone piece of chicken with a fork. We paid a decent amount for food and drinks at this venue and we left hungry. I will go there in the future to listen to bands but I will never EVER order food...
