We have been a part of the Adventure Treks family for four years and when I mean family, I mean family. I have three daughters and all three have experienced Adventure Treks...my oldest and middle daughters with Adventure Treks and my youngest at Camp Pinnacle. These have been life altering summers for my kids. At Adventure Treks, my kids have been to California, Utah and the Blue Ridge Mountains. This year, my middle daughter is heading to Oregon and Washington. While on these trips they have challenged themselves physically and, more importantly, have become better people. They spend three weeks away from electronics and the drama of their every day lives as teenagers. They learn more about themselves while on these trips then most people learn about themselves in a lifetime. There are no social cliques, this is a place where everyone is a friend and everyone is kind. The family of 24 with their leaders becomes "one." They learn how to trust one another and find the good in everybody. They challenge themselves to become leaders and think of others. Although they are doing physically challenging activities, they are always done with the utmost of safety being considered. Doc thinks of everything to make this experience perfect for each individual attending. My two oldest daughters have come home wishing they could go back tomorrow. They count the days until their return. Bonds are formed between these kids from all over the world that go on for years. What Adventure Treks teaches your kids can not be duplicated in the classroom or at any other program. The life lessons that are learned are carried with them forever. We will be a member of the Adventure Treks family for many many...
Read moreMy son just returned from a 13-day Adventure Treks experience, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the impact it has had on him. Before leaving, he was hesitant and unsure about spending that much time away from home, but from the moment he came back, I could see how transformative the experience truly was.
He came home more confident, more focused on achieving his goals, and with a renewed sense of independence. He’s become more vocal, more conversational, and carries himself with a new level of self-assurance. Beyond the outdoor adventures and challenges, what stood out most to me was how he grew as a person — learning teamwork, resilience, and how to push through discomfort to discover joy on the other side.
What surprised me most was that the trip he initially was unsure of turned out to be one of the best experiences of his life. He enjoyed himself so much that he’s already asking to go back next year. To me, that says everything about the care, planning, and leadership that Adventure Treks provides. Prior to the trip, they answered every question oh so patiently and were very transparent about everything we should expect and prepare for. Their communication was top-notch throughout.
I’m so grateful to Amanda and the team as well as the camp instructors for creating a safe, encouraging, and fun environment where our son could grow, connect, and discover more about himself. Adventure Treks didn’t just give him an unforgettable adventure — it gave him confidence, skills, and friendships that will last far beyond the trip. Thank you,...
Read moreLast summer we sent our fourteen year old son to the Blue Ridge Mountains with Adventure Treks. We live in Paris, and he and his younger brother had both experienced some wonderful camps both in Europe, and the USA... Outward Bound, Village Camps... but his experience at AT was hands down the best. After three weeks in those mountains our boy came back to us stronger inside and out, with a rejuvenated joy for the outdoors, and a love for simple pleasures that is such a struggle to hold onto these days. The stories that trickled out over the next few weeks were tales of exhilaration, sweet conversations, and genuine bravery. Our sense is that the team of leaders were kind, fun loving, and no nonsense when it came to safety, and group dynamics. We were thrilled for our son to have experienced this type of personal guidance, while gaining confidence and basic survival skills in the wilderness. Now fifteen, he will join again this summer for the British Columbia excursion, and his thirteen year old brother hopes to go to Colorado with Adventure Treks. The other especially cool thing about joining AT is that Dock and his team manage to keep you in their hearts all year long with updates, notes, and reminders of how much is going on for young teens, and how important this stage of life is for families. Truly...easily...without hesitation give the highest...
