I've camped at a lot of Oregon's State Parks and this was the first one where I did not see any raccoons in broad daylight (or at all). Oregon's State Parks are my all time favorite campgrounds; you never hear generators running, they have nice bathrooms with showers, trails, and they're usually pretty good about enforcing quiet hours. I really loved this campground! This was my first time booking a full hookup site and I had a hard time finding information about the power hookup prior to coming, so I've included a picture of what it looks like for my fellow tent campers who need/want power. There wasn't any T-Mobile service here unfortunately (the T-Mobile map is a liar apparently) so working from the tent was unfortunately a no-go. On our last day we realized there is free WiFi at the front office thing if you need to check in with the outside world. The trail to the beach wasn't too long and was a beautiful flat walk along the creek. At the end of the trail there was a bench and long shallow stairs onto the beach. There is another trail that you can take to the lighthouse or Hobbit Beach, but they're a couple of miles away roundtrip. Also, no offense to Hobbit Beach but I would totally recommend the beach trail from this campground over it. You get the same overall vibe but you get it with probably about 50 feet of elevation change instead of the around 400 feet change on the Hobbit Trail, you won't run into many people, and you don't have to park in a tiny parking lot full of glass and worry about your car being broken into (if you're lucky to find a spot at the Hobbit Trailhead). The only complaint I would have is that the soap dispenser in the bathroom was empty all week and wasn't refilled until the weekend...

We enjoyed three nights at Washburne in August. It's a quiet park with lots of shade. Thought I'd share a couple of things that might help others before booking. There is no service at all for AT&T - if you need service you'll have to drive closer to Florence or Yachats to get a signal. Sewer hook-ups throughout the park are pretty old and not very functional - most come out of the ground at 90 degrees so you can't easily prevent leaks in your connection. In our site (A28) it was particularly problematic because the threads were totally stripped out of the connection - there's no way to connect your hose without a leak. We opted not to use the sewer at all since we were only there for three nights. If you're booking a longer stay you might need to plan to hook up and drive across the highway to the dump station located at the day-use area. The Park Host mentioned that the sewer connections were slowly being replaced so hopefully it won't be an issue in...

Spent 6 nights at this beautiful park! Smaller park with well maintained facilities and easy beach access. My 4 star rating is because there was mixed communication from the staff about a fire ban that went into effect.

I will say though, a warm wind blew in a bunch of bugs one night that made the bathrooms disgusting. The staff was quick to respond and clean up the facilities.

Definitely pay attention to the site length listed on the website. We stayed in site 58 on the B loop which was very short, and had an awkward angle for backing from the road. Would not recommend anything longer than 20 ft staying there.

REMOTE WORKERS: I was unable to get any service with AT&T. I had to drive the 10 minutes to the Sea Lion Caves to get any service. However, if you stay in B Loop, the field around the bathrooms has a big tree opening that might work for...

Beautiful. Quiet through mid-week. Hosts and rangers all very friendly and helpful. Stayed 9 days through Memorial Day holiday. It rained everyday except the day I arrived and the day I left. That was true all up and down the Coast. Stock up on groceries before you come - Florence to the South and Waldport to the North are about 20 miles away. Sites are full hookup - water, electric, and sewer; all sites have a firepit and wood may be purchased. Read Alert about bringing in your own wood as there are restrictions. There is a public dump station across the highway in the Day Use area. Zero cell service, a few radio stations, no air TV. Netflix downloads provided evening entertainment. I will definitely visit again - July or later.

My favorite place on all of the west coast of the USA. It's also one of the wildest remaining, the closest thing to a wilderness area to be found on the left coast. The primitive flavor of this splendid park is part of it's enduring charm to me. Have camped out here many days and nights through the years including a New Year's Day and night once with only 5 other campers. It's always a refreshing and rejuvenating stay away from so rapidly a changing world. My attached photos are from New Year's Day in 2012: The campfire that kept me company through the night, and from the ever-serene Hobbit Beach a short hike away. Lovely. No cell phone service here, which I also happen to like.
