I love walking on the beach here. It fronts the only oceanfront hotel in town and some homes, so that area can be busy on weekends. It is a fee area, or there is a free parking area to the left of the hotel- both get packed on the weekend. The park area itself is pretty small with very limited space for picnicking, but most people just walk down to the beach and do all of their activities there.
Made it to the end of the beach near the Sea Lion Caves a couple of weeks ago- heads up, it's a 5 mile walk one way (so 10 miles round trip) and you have to cross the creek to access that part of the beach, so prepare appropriately and plan to go around low tide. It's a gorgeous walk and I totally recommend it if you are physically fit for a walk like that. If not, I would not recommend this as cell service is spotty and almost no one walks out that far.
The other direction is the jetty wall, which is about 1.2 miles from the parking lot (when you get out to the beach, go left). It is a good short walk, and if the tide is low you can find some interesting things (crabs,...
Read moreI've been going to this park since I moved to Oregon in 2002 and it's the place I always come back to. The day use fee is $5 or you can use your Lane County Annual Parks Pass. The access to the beach is a fairly easy walk as it doesn't require climbing over large dunes or down rocky areas. You walk down from the parking area which is a bit of an incline to a small gravel path that takes you straight to the beach. The sand here is soft and there are small bits of shells and rocks scattered about, so you can walk barefoot in many spots if you choose to. There tend to be a few washed up clear jellyfish and bits of crab on this beach as well. It's a beautiful place to sit and watch the sunset and listen to the waves. Cons of this location: The parking is limited as there are only a dozen or so spots. The bathrooms aren't super clean, so be prepared for...
Read moreCool little beach park (Very little) that provides public access to the beach. There are less than ten parking spots as far as I could tell and it's $5 for all day parking. The fee area has a drop box that takes cash (not sure about checks) and has a working digital parking pay kiosk that takes cash or credit cards.
We found this park randomly on the map as we drove through on hwy 101 and it was one of best hidden access points on our trip. The beach is sandy and there weren't very many people along the stretch where we were at. The walk from the parking lot to the beach is very short and you can take off your shoes or sandals pretty quickly and walk in the sand. It's also a dog friendly beach. I would pack chairs in with you and relax a bit, but also it's very windy but tolerable on...
