Two visits to this boat ramp and we will never return. They were the worst experiences at a boat ramp ever. If Mother Theresa was alive she would have lost her patience as well. I have never seen so many people arguing with each other, forcing their trailers into the water to grab their boats when there’s already a boat waiting for a trailer to grab it. Damage being done to boats, including ours by a man that insisted on putting his trailer in to take his boat out while our trailer was waiting to grab ours .Men yelling at women that were in boats waiting with children as their husbands went to grab the car. A guy peeling out with smoke in the air furious that another mother, grandfather and children in the boat weren’t moving their boat fast enough so that he could put his back into the water to place it properly on his trailer. The cussing, the men verbally threatening each other, yelling out of pick up’s and fighting in line. This was worse than any episode of Jerry Springer that could have ever been aired. The lack of direction and respect ran rampant. They need to either shut it down altogether or have a police presence there. The boats that are anchored right around the boat launch are a few layers deep and make zero sense and cause obstructions to the boaters trying to launch and remove their boats from the water. Many people piped in that this is an every day occurrence there and the absolute worst on the weekends. Please make this review count by addressing the situation ! It was absolutely frightening. The people blocking people in with their trucks and trailers and using vehicles as a weapon were hard to ingest. The behavior there was dangerous and inexcusable!!! Was too busy protecting myself from all of the tempers to be able to get videos as things were happening, but there were many phones up, taking videos and people watching in disbelief. So dissappointed!!!! So many threats by people of calling the police and it probably would’ve been a fantastic idea. No one should have to go through that. Just trying to enjoy time on the water. This boat ramp needs changes and supervision! Is the destination beautiful once you get your boat out of there, absolutely, but the experience is not...
Read moreTotally disappointed in the lack of maintenance this place has when it comes to their boat ramps. As much as they are used it should be maintained weekly to avoid damage to boats. This is the second damage my boat acquired in less than two months. When I called to report what caused the damage on my boat they acted like it was no fault of the county and that maintenance is done daily…..I doubt it the corners on all docks are exposed metal.
I understand the currents are very swift but even the most seasoned captain has issues docking in which makes making sure all structural dock aids are maintained weekly to help minimize damage.
I will never use this ramp again and will discourage others as well. The county needs to step up. My attorney will be submitting a bill for my damages.
*In regard to your response; Your response is absurd, rude and inaccurate. An experienced Captain was maneuvering the boat for starters, and if you claim that the docks were inspected in August the inspector must have been lazy, blind or both. That corner of the dock in question has been like that for months. I suggest that you re-vist your "County Inspection" dates and follow up accordingly. I'm not filing a claim so no need to be rude. I was making a point that repairs need to be done, and expressing my review to help warn others. These docks have bumpers and corner guards for a reason....to help protect vessels on approach. Have it fix it and quit being so rude and unprofessional especially if you're a county employee. Your job is to be friendly, accommodating and helpful not...
Read more1/ There is only one pay station and people have to line up to pay for it while their party waiting on the boat, that caused the load/unload to back up. 2/ The ramp is pretty steep and not much traction left, so with heavy boat, the tires slip a lot when pulling up the boat. Also, the trailer frame will touch the ground at the start of the slope(because it steep down). 3/ This one is not part of the review 4 stars above, but on scallop season, there is a long line, but the first boat in line for some reason did not load the boat to the water and stay in line while 2 other ramp are open for 15 minutes. I was in the water there and asking myself what the heck why that 1st guy in line not moving and the rest of them are not checking the ramp either, 2 open spots open for 15+ mins while about 7 other boats in line waiting to unload. There is one guy that unloaded the boat, then sitting there waiting for his friends to arrive. Guys, please be nice. Unload the boat then move out of there for other to use as there is a line. If you are the first in line and not ready to unload your boat, move to a side then tell the next person to move up. ...
