Great park to visit. Very tranquil and quiet place. The bird island was pretty small but it had plenty of wildlife around the pond and quite a few anhinga on the island. We also saw a green haron as well as an osprey in the distance. I was actually most interested in the turtles. They followed us around and clearly had been fed by others (even though you are not suppose to). We will likely be back to have a picnic sometimes on the water because there was a picnic table over the water that was shaded.
There was also a small play ground and walking the little shrub maze was pretty fun to do with my very young son.

It could be so much more though if they would cut down the palmetto and other bushes that keep people from seeing the birds on bird island which the birds don't use. They spend their time in the few trees limbs whose branches are not overgrown by wild bushes on the island. This park has very little shade other than a place at the beginning of the walkway and is very hot in the summer and therefore little used for that reason. A great place to view wildlife, this park also has a child's playground, a hedge maze shaped like a sea turtle, a boardwalk, and an open amphitheater. The amphitheater has one of the greatest works of art that I've ever seen. It's a huge series of murals detailing plants and animals in Florida and the work and planning that went into such a masterpiece is mine blowing.
