It's truly remarkable that the PGA Tour comes back here time and time again for a tournament because this was one of the worst kept "tour level" courses I've been fortunate to play on. I'm a 5 handicap and I shot 76 there, so this review has zero influence from how I played that day. Range is in shambles, with hardly any grass to hit off of. Our group (12 golfers, many of whom are members at courses that host tour events) went off the back. The only well maintained portion was the Copperhead logo on the 17th tee box. What we originally thought were oil leaks on the greens turned out to be a bad fertilizer job on 5 of the 9 greens. Tee boxes with little to no grass, some fairway areas with little to no grass. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't pay $100 to play this place, let alone the $400 they charge. The only reason they get one star is they have a fantastic staff working there who took care of us over our three night stay there. But if you're thinking about forking over $400 to play here just because they host the Valspar, save your time and money and...
Read moreOn arrival we were greeted by the most enthusiastic gateman ever from there in a fabulous experience playing the Copperhead Course in all its glory. We played from the white tee boxes which, ensured we had a reasonable challenge on this magnificent golf course. All playing surfaces were very much as you would expect perfect, with super fast greens. Every hole is a unique challenge with beautiful surroundings. The last 3 holes (The Snake Pit) I was gross 2 over par which was my handicap however, from the back tees on competition days I would imagine the pressure building. The tee shots from the back tees would be really intimidating. The clubhouse had a well stocked pro shop and super bar and clubhouse restaurant. As we had travelled up the Interstate 4 from Reunion resort, we wasn't disappointed. All the staff from gate keeper to bar tender do friendly and welcoming. If you're lucky enough go have some fun...
Read morePlayed Copperhead on 2/28/21. Course speaks for itself being a championship event. What was most frustrating is how they are all about the money. I am a cancer patient and with Covid must be careful and have my own cart. After paying the already high rates for golf and cart, they informed me I had to pay an additional $35 for a single cart, called it a convenience fee - convenience must be for them, not me. It's not even about the money but the principal given the situation. I doubt they charge extra if you have a 3-some or single player. They should be embarrassed about charging extra for a medical condition during this time. Played many other courses during our trip and they have been the only one to have an additional fee once the course understands my situation. I guess the word empathy is not something they train...
