Beautiful scenery and a perfect spot for off road bicycles. One warning however: The park is completely undeveloped, wild and minimally maintained. Expect bugs in the rainy season. Wading birds of all kinds, Bald Eagles, black bear, deer and yes, snakes call this place home. Thorny sand spurs are everywhere in the summer months and can flatten a mountain bike’s fat tires in minutes. Kevlar liners are a good idea.
This may be one of the last undeveloped, wild tracts still accessible to the public on Anastasia Island. We are so fortunate that it was saved from development. Don’t let its proximity to civilization fool you. This is not your usual city park with pavilions, grills and bathrooms. It is totally devoid of amenities. A few dirt tracks for officials 4 wheel drive vehicles is all you get.
