We had been waiting for a good time to hop in to Black Molly Grill. Several months ago we arrived into a full parking lot with not a space available and it seemed like the whole place was partying at the time, so we opted to come back another time.

This time we called ahead to see how long the wait would be and we were informed there was no wait and that they didn't close until 8pm or 9pm, depending on the guests. It was time to give Black Molly a try for the first time! At 7pm there on a Monday night on Memorial Day there were plenty of tables available and guests were mostly scant. Perfect intimate setting for a date.

I oggled the menu, trying to decide. I really enjoyed that dinner entreés (except for just one selection) come with both either a house or caesar salad and also a choice of side! Yes! I love to check out how salads are done in each restaurant I go to, how they are put together, the quality of leafy greens used, and overall presentation.

The server was cordial and patient with us as we had truly deliberated over what to order!

I decided to go for the flounder stuffed with their signature crab cake plate, a side of sauteed spinach and a caesar salad. My companion ordered the market mahi topped with Glow sauce, a side of garlic mash and a house salad.

We had such great conversation in our sweet little corner by the window that we hardly noticed there was no complimentary bread or anything of the like offered while we waited for our food to come. We downed our waters with squeezes of the lemons that were delivered separately on a plate as we requested.

Suddenly we were delivered our side salads and bread simultaneously. Our server gave us the heads up that our entreés were not far in time to follow. I decided to take a bite of my salad first and was just buttering a square of bread before my dinner place was also on the table.

It is nice to know Black Molly does in fact offer a complimentary basket of bread and butter. At the least as a guest I would have liked to have the bread out to us separately well before the salads and entreés. The timing of everything landing on the table at once had me not wanting to miss out on the satisfaction of the bread, but also wanting to finish my salad quickly before my entreé lost too much of its temperature. All was well, though. We dug in!

The fish we ordered were cooked well, and the toppings came as described. Both of us tried each other's dishes. The volume of food was filling. I enjoyed the yellow tomatoes in the Glow sauce.

We sprung for a desert. At first we chose creme bruleé. The server came back to inform us that though they had the desert we chose, their torch was not working so it rendered the selection unavailable. It was no problem for us. We chose the orange cheesecake instead and enjoyed it!

I enjoyed the greens used for the caesar salad and those leafy greens were coated well with caesar dressing and parmesan. I liked it enough to wish my side salad filled the plate it was on to more capacity. Perhaps if it was plated on a smaller plate the side salad would look a bit more in proportional upon arrival. I really enjoyed the texture of the croutons! Crunchy but also soft and small enough to really enjoy their presence in my salad.

Thanks Black Molly. I'd like to try other selections from your menu next time, and perhaps I'll order a full salad from your menu next time as well. Nice atmosphere! Thanks for pulling through on a holiday and providing a nice place to enjoy company. Keep...

Wife and I decided to try this faire based on recommendation of friends. We arrived at 5:00pm and had a ten minute wait. The girls at the seating station were not friendly and could not get a smile out of any of them. While we waited I asked for a menu for the wife, and I and got one. We were seated in a booth, waited five minutes for a waitress and then another five minutes to place our order, and asked for water. The next time, (ten minutes) we saw our waitress she brought bread and butter and she asked us if there was anything else she could help us with and I asked her that we could use some water! She apologized and mentioned that the management had her going allover the place, outside and on the other side of the restaurant taking orders. I had a salad, with a very strong vinegar dressing (I asked for Italian but the vinaigrette was the closest they had and it was whew...strong) the waitress asked how I liked it and I told her it was a bit strong for me. She didn't seem to care about my opinion.

Our entrees came, my wife had shrimp and scollops (which were very delicious) with broccoli and sweet potato, and I had a steak with sweet potato. The sweet potatoes were so cold that the butter would not even melt, and the steak was just warm at best, tasty but not hot. The next time we saw our waitress, we asked for new potatoes and we got them about ten minutes later, at which time most of our main course was finished. We decided on a dessert but opted to take it home.

I would not eat another steak here, the service was not 'up to par' with the most rudimentary waitress service in most restaurants. Food was cold and never once was asked for a refill on my water, so I just drank my wife's water. I would have asked for a refill if we had seen our waitress who was too busy with her other tables.

I was not impressed and while my wife enjoyed the seafood, even if was barely warm when it go to the table. I almost sent the sent the entire order back for a redo, probably should have actually. While this may be the place to go to and is considered a local hangout, customers who allow this kind of service and food preparation are doing themselves a disservice but not requiring higher standards.

We won't be back and I imagine the management doesn't really care because they pack the locals (by the way, I'm a local too) in for drinks and they just keep on providing poor service. Perhaps you will have a better experience than us, just make sure you order a few strong drinks before you...

My wife and I had a very good overall experience coming here. Black Molly is at their new location, and it is busy literally all hours of operation. I recommend you get there early due to the crowds, but even more importantly, the buy one get one free cocktails. My preference is typically sitting at the bar for a more social and interactive experience at most restaurants. This was the case as well, and we received excellent service and excellent recommendations. We ordered:

SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP Fresh spinach, five cheese blend, and diced artichoke hearts. Baked and served with warm blue tortilla chips $12.99 8/10 My wife really liked the dip. I liked that they had more than enough chips, which isn't always the case at restaurants. I think it would be interesting to have some of their fantastic bread to try with the dip.

SHRIMP SNAPS Lightly breaded shrimp tossed in our sweet and spicy red chili aioli, served on bed of shredded cabbage $13.99 9/10 I really enjoyed this dish. The crispy, sweet, and savory shrimp dish really hit alot of the things I look for in an appetizer. Cooked perfectly.

RIBEYE 12oz hand-cut Black Angus Ribeye. crusted with savory hickory dry rub and grilled $28.99 7/10 I heard great things about Black Molly steaks from alot of people. I chalk this up as still working out the kinks of a new restaurant. The steak was cooked correctly, but the meat itself wasn't that great. It was just OK.

PORK CHOP 10oz. center cut chop. topped with our Michigan dried cherry Marsala sauce $19.99 9/10 It's probably one of the best porkcops I have consumed in a real long time. So hear me out first. My wife thinks I'm kind of a reckless foodie gunslinger when I ask this. I ask for recommendations then at times I just tell them to surprise me with their version of the best dish. It's never failed me yet, but you can't be a picky eater. Kate hooked me up with a pork chop done but with the fixings of the datil chicken. It had goat cheese on top. Cooked to perfection too. Would order again.

Caesar Salad and rolls were good and would do again as well. My wife would recommend more than 3 croutons for each salad.

Will be back and good enough for a regular rotation to anyone's...

We had dinner at The Black Molly Grill when they first opened years ago and really enjoyed it. I'm not sure why we never went back but we had an awesome dinner tonight. When we first arrived the restaurant was packed. We had a 45 minute wait but that wasn't bad at all, especially since there's a full bar available to have a drink while you wait. After we were seated our server brought the menus and took our drink orders. We had a hard time choosing what we wanted for dinner because they had several dishes that sounded delicious. We finally went with the scallop and shrimp dinner and their 12 ounce rib-eye. Each dinner came with a choice of two sides or a salad and one side, (we chose salads, sweet potato fries and garlic mashed potatoes). Our salads were brought out first and the dressings were delicious. The blue cheese dressing was creamy with a nice bite of fresh garlic. The Caesar dressing was just as good and properly made with anchovies. The rolls that were brought to our table were also amazing...they were slightly sweet and served with whipped butter. Our server told us everything here is made from scratch.and you can definitely tell by the taste. Our dinners arrived shortly after finishing our salads and they were both awesome. The scallops and shrimp were fresh, cooked perfectly and paired well with the lemon butter cream they were cooked in. The rib-eye steak was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. The char on the steak put it over the top. I was extremely happy when we left. Our server was awesome and the food was better than what I remember. I will definitely make sure to come back on a regular basis.
