Mounts Botanical Garden is a botanical garden in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is a lovely venue, open to the public, and for me, is a source of continuing pleasure and learning. The Mounts is an important part of our community, and all are welcome to attend its programs and events, learn more about plants and gardening through the activities and groups that meet there, and enjoy the beauty of the grounds. The Mounts is Palm Beach County's largest and oldest public garden. The grounds are lush with more than 2,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants from six continents. Many of the plants here are native to Florida, and include exotic trees, tropical fruits, herbs, citrus and palms. In February 2022, I met up with three friends to enjoy the Nature POP! exhibition, which featured over 40 sculptures by Sean Kenney. These incredible sculptures were created from over 800,000 LEGO pieces! The sculptures, whether placed as focal points around the gardens, or grouped in exhibits as if part of the natural ecosystem, explored the beauty of nature and subtly expressed the artist’s thoughts on the relationships that exist in nature. The individual sculptures and groupings variously expressed, for example, the delicate balances between predators and their prey. Or as another example, the commonalities among species as they care for and nurture their young. Running throughout the exhibition was a silent commentary regarding the effect that we humans have on the natural world. The artist , Mr. Kenney, effectively communicated his message through the highly-stylized and colorful displays. The bold, vivid LEGO sculptures standing in striking contrast with their surroundings underscored this message. I appreciated how Nature POP!, which was produced by Image Exhibitions, blended artistic innovation and science in the artist’s newest sculptures. Mounts is a component of the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service and is affiliated with the University of Florida / IFAS.

My son got married to the love of his life here on Sunday and it was so beautiful. Fortunately we had the rehearsal the day before and we were able to "feel" the walk and pay attention to the surroundings. I wish I had seen it before buying my gown and shoes. That being said, on the down side-the bride & mother of the bride had pumps with very narrow heels, my 82 year old mother had low narrow heels and, I was wearing 4 inch block heels. The grass was very wet and there was a lot of mud that had surfaced. The mother of the bride had mud from her shoe heels all over the bottom back of her gown, my mother had trouble walking in her low pumps through the grass and I was escorted by a groomsman and I had to walk very slowly towards him until we were on the walkway so I didn't smash my dress in the mud. Getting out of the muddy area to the pavers proved difficult even though I had the chunkiest heels. I'm blessed that my son married the love of his life in this beautiful gazebo overlooking a lake, but, truly wish I was in flat shoes. My gown was dirty in the back where it hit the mud while I was sitting in the chair during the ceremony. Since they offer this gazebo for ceremonies at a fairly high price, it would have been nice to have something hard that they lay down for ceremonies so no one gets so dirty. Sort of like the faux dance floors that are used in untraditional reception areas in other venues. All in all, this venue is absolutely beautiful for an intimate wedding (just make sure you're also aware of the planes nearby that are fairly loud when taking off or just flying by!). A wonderful time was had by all amd I would recommend this venue to any bride and groom desiring an outdoor wedding in a beautiful East Coast spot.

Attended a wedding and was told the wedding guests could walk around the grounds before/after the ceremony; as I was there early with my boyfriend, who was helping the groom and guys set up, I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to warm up a bit from the cold weather by moving around. The gardens are just as beautiful as I remember from a previous visit about 4 years ago. The last time I was here, the bridge was closed and the water-walkways were not open. Enjoyed walking the area and sitting by the pond to watch the koi fish, who were happy to say hello because they thought I had food. Worth freezing a bit more to sit still and watch them! Perhaps it was the cold or the entry fee, but the traffic in the park was light and it was the perfect opportunity to take a moment, in the wedding and holiday madness, to just breathe and disconnect. I liked that the wedding area is set to the back so there is not a lot of foot traffic from garden visitors. Also, the pavilion and seating area are set under some lovely shade trees and the landscaping around both create the illusion of lush seclusion. The bridge railing leading to this area may be a reason for concern, however, as it was easily pushed against as the guys tied tulle to it, and did not appear secure. Only huge drawback: airplane noise. And yes, they had to pause the ceremony for one of them who had perfect timing.
