Hoyt gave us a great tour of the old house and the interesting and winding history. After the old house there's the Tabor house and another house on property that house several galleries. When we visited there was the history of St Augustine in maps, the history of surfing in north East Florida and a history of Marineland. Those exhibits with the main museum about St Augustine history encompass pretty much a one stop shop for all history needs in St Augustine! If you're looking for authentic history in a historical setting, then the Oldest House museum and tour are just the ticket, at the best price.

This is the oldest house in town and in the country, 300 years old and counting! The experience inside the place is quite simple, but educational at the same time. If you wait for the guided tour then you’ll have more information on every room. However, we did the self-guided tour and it was very nice too. They give you handouts (they are available in English and Spanish) and you can discover facts and more information about the house while walking around by yourself. Staff is very nice and courteous. I do recommend it.

I have been here many times. I went with John F. Kennedy Middle School Rockledge Florida for MY 8th grade field trip YEARS ago lol and then went with each of my children at the same school for their field trip. We have also gone to St Augustine on family day trips. Yesterday was a pretty great experience here. The staff was fantastic! They did activities with the kids and told stories about the house and life as it used to be. The students, teachers and us chaperones really enjoyed every moment!

Meh. It was threatening rain so they didn’t give tours. Felt like a cop out because it was toward the end of the day. The property was really dark when it was overcast outside and with no tour there is not a lot to capture interest. There aren’t a lot of signs. I asked for a guide and they didn’t have anything to give us beside a crude map of the property buildings. Cool to visit such an old house but disappointed by the experience.

I went here for the opening of the Marineland Museum last night. Had an awesome time meeting new people while having hors d'oeuvres and drinks out in the garden areas. I was able to see the exhibits for the Oldest House as well. What a great place to learn about the history of this town! Beautiful grounds are almost surreal. Wonderful place for a private special occasion! A definite stop whether you're local or visiting here.
