I’m not sure if the County realizes that there are patrons of the park making their own rules. My husband and I were traveling from Maryland with our dog to visit my mom and, after being in the car for 2 days, we were both happy to see a nice dog park within 2 miles of her home. We have a very sweet German Shepherd who loves to socialize with people and dogs. When attempting to enter the “mixed size” dog area, we were blocked by an extremely rude man who said “oh no my dog was attacked twice by German Shepherd’s” and would not allow us to enter. He then said “there are plenty of other places for you to go” and pointed to an area where there were no other dogs. I was also told by another patron of the dog park that the gentleman who would not allow us to enter “comes to the dog park daily”. We did go to that area and my dog played alone after needing socialization from being in the car for 2 days. Today we will be driving 20 minutes out of our way to another dog park so my dog can play. Anyone reading this, please remember that we as rational adults should not stereotype certain breeds of dogs as it does not do them any justice. So if you have a German Shepherd, and want to socialize him/her, don’t bother going to Pear Park between the hours of 9:00 am...

You must always use caution here in Florida around any body of water when it comes to your pet's safety as well as your own...
