Let's see...Where do I start on this review? How about 2 weeks ago when I first came into this restaurant. My first review I only gave this restaurant one-star. The reason was I never posted the whole story. When the manager reached out to me asking why the low review, I informed her that, it was my first time at the restaurant. I had joined friends there for the evening and since it wasn't crowded when we first arrived, there didn't seem to be a reason for poor service, but that's what we got... poor service! My husband and I ordered from the appetizer menu just to get a taste of what the food was like. We ordered three things the mozzarella stick , zucchini strings and the meatballs. The mozzarella were cooked to the right temperature, but the zucchini strings were limp and extremely greasy to the point you couldn't eat them. When I tried to tell the server about them, she just looked at me and took them away. She never said "I'm sorry" or "would you like me to get you something else"? This is called customer service and is what a good server would do. At this point this is when the manager Mary said to me "Oh, I was in the bar she should have came and got me."
The manager Mary informed me that she wanted to make it up to us because we had such a horrible time on our first visit, the next time we came in, she would take care of us. This is a wonderful offer, but why do you want something set up perfectly for you. Because the next time you go in after that is it going to be perfect?
So needless to say, I did not tell her we were coming. My husband and I joined our friends one again fo and we ordered a simple Pizza, half sausage and half cheese. When my husband was trying to place the order with the same server we had from two weeks prior (Miss Sunshine) and he asked for cheese on one side. She snapped back and said "all pizza has cheese on both sides." So he asked could you please put extra cheese on one side and sausage on the other side. She walked off before my husband could tell her we wanted salads too. The other two gentlemen at our table luckily had already placed their orders before she left. There was only three other tables in the restaurant other than us, one of them had already finished their food.
It took over 45 minutes from the time she took the order for that pizza to be dropped at our table. During this time our drinks had not been refilled and this is a big pet peeve of mine.
If any of you out there know anything about making dough, and know how dough gets when it is overproofed and how it falls, you will understand how the pizza crust will be chewy. The sausage that was on the pizza tasted funny so we didn't eat the pizza. When I went to find Mary at the bar, she said she would come to my table and talk to us When I went back to our table to sit down another server came to our table and was trying to address problems at our table I have no clue who this person was, but she became loud and started yelling at us, before Mary could get to the table. This is not a proper way to run a restaurant. The manager Mary said it should not take no more than 30 minutes for a pizza when she did arrive at our table.
This restaurant did not give a good impression based on service at all! The wait staff was not friendly. The quality of the food on both occasions was not pleasant. And to make matters worse, the 92 year old gentleman that was walking past some other tables decided to speak to some old friends of his at another table. Our rude server informed him when he sat back down at our table, he was not allowed to talk to people at other tables. He's 92 years old folks !!! It's good manners to speak to your friends!!!! He's not Speedy Gonzales he walks slow with a cane!!!! This restaurant is known for being sponsor of the LGBT community, but I'm really wondering what our waitress had a problem with... Because we had the Elderly, we had a Gay gentlemen, we had the Men, we had a Female at our table... So what did she Hate? Because it was all Represented at our table, and we still got Real...
Read moreTo quickly summarize my experience for those who don’t like to read, great food -AWFUL service. I wouldn’t go back here if I was trapped in the Sahara Desert and this was the only restaurant open. I probably wouldn’t get helped anyhow.
I am not one to post bad reviews and normally keep my experiences to myself or share verbally but the service I had at Rodello’s had to be shared.
We arrived at 5:30pm on Sunday, July 9th. Inside the restaurant was 5-6 tables occupied at most. We were seated by the hostess quickly and was told a server would be with us in a minute. We reviewed the menu decided what we wanted, looked at their wine menu, and spoke amongst ourselves until we noticed it had been about 10 minutes and no one had come to the table. Thinking waitstaff were occupied or they were short staffed we shrugged it off but watched as 5 or maybe 6 servers walked out of the kitchen door multiple times, walked past us, and not acknowledge us. We tried making eye contact with every waitstaff which walked closely to give a hint we hadn’t been helped. Finally after 20 minutes I got up and approached the hostess who was cleaning a table and asked who our server was and it had been 20 minutes and no one had been to our table. She frustratingly and surprisingly said “no one has come to your table?? Are you serious?” apologized and said she would get someone immediately. I thanked her and she walked away. Within a few moments what I assume was the head server came over, apologized, explained it was a miscommunication, got us drinks and said Jill would be taking care us. Jill took our order we got our drinks and the reminder of dinner was great. Food was great, very flavorful, and great servings. I would like to think we were kind in thanking her for things as she refilled drinks, smiled, and were cordial. I was assuming the beginning was a mistake and my perception of the service being awful was due to a small communication error, until we went to pay.
Jill brought out one check (without asking if we needed one or two checks mind you), got boxes for our food and bags. My Mom and I decided we would split the bill 50/50 rather than one person paying. Normally at every restaurant no complaints by the staff and they move on. Jill comes and we hand her the bill with both cards inside and ask if she could split the bill 50/50. You would have thought I asked her to run around the block and back with how she responded acting as though it was a major inconvenience. She said in a snarky tone “you know you could have asked for two bills instead? It isn’t like you guys got appetizers or anything.” We apologized and said we understand but we’d like to split it this way to make it fair on us both. She replied in a sarcastically nice voice “yeah but you guys should know you can ask for two bills. Just letting you know for next time because this is more work.” We apologized again and said if it was too much she can put it on one card, twice. Her response once again sarcastically nice “No, no I’ll split it. I’m just letting you know.” We received the checks, paid and left. Never returning again.
We’re sorry we were an inconvenience to ask someone to serve us and assist with a bill. Things I would assume are the bare minimum of a serving job. Sad the food was great but with that...
Read moreI went to Rodello’s for dinner with my family yesterday. We had a reservation so they seated us fairly quickly. It all went down hill fast from there. It took several minutes for our waiter to arrive, then took another several minutes for him to bring us waters. We had two small children with us and the waiter said he could get them chocolate milk. After 10 minutes or so he comes back and tells us they are out of chocolate milk. In fact, they have no milk or any juice period. After taking our appetizer order we told him we needed more silverware because we were short one set. Anyway, after waiting for 30 minutes for our appetizer, another staff member brought the food over, but still no silverware. We asked him for some and he said he would tell our waiter. It never came. I had to eat my stuffed mushrooms with my fingers. When the waiter was taking our entree orders he said the kitchen could do a half order on any entree as a children’s menu option. Then after we order he comes back and says the kitchen will not do any half orders now. Waited another 30 minutes for our entrees and of course they forgot one. The waiter said the orders were not going through correctly, so that is why they were taking so long. It was a terrible experience and the staff was not very apologetic. We will NEVER go back. Food was ok, prices were a little high I thought. The place was mostly empty by the way. I can’t imagine how slow they are on a busy night. I can’t believe the manager never came over to apologize for all the delays and misinformation given to us. If my 87 year old grandmother wasn’t with us, I would have given someone in that place...
