This is specific to the Tower and this is primarily 5-star review to share our appreciation of the young docent who was as passionate about the topic as she was knowledgeable. You take a tiny elevator to the top of the (3 guests per trip) tower (reservations only--Kama'aina option is possible). You get to step outside on top (very windy-watch your hats) and get gorgeous views of Pearl Harbor; inside, very easy to understand info points. After a bit, the tour guide shared a deeply impressive review of the attack.

Note: you are limited to only about a 30-40% arc of photos that are allowed--direct photos of the ship yard and base are not allowed (although you can do so from the USS Missouri??).

Well worth it-allow for a...

This was so worth it. If you are a history buff the naval historian will show you a truly once in a lifetime vantage point of the date that will live in infamy. I want to say the woman was a Bosun but I could be so wrong so I apologize a head of time. But the Bosun started by showing us how the first wave came in and then pointed out all the airfields and locations that you can not see at ground level. Then the Bosun took us around the tower to the second wave and pointed out little details that are not in any of the exhibits and told some amazing stories of heroism.

Also the views of Waikiki are spectacular. You can’t take any photos of that angle because of the active military base but still something I...

The Top of the Tower Tour is the most impressive part of the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum on Ford Island. There’s an add-on fee of maybe $10 or so when you buy the museum tickets and it’s a brilliant addition to your day at Pearl Harbor. When you get to the top of the newly restored tower, you’ll have a 360 degree aerial view of the entire harbor with a nice breeze and a docent. Camille, who is as passionate about Pearl Harbor in 1941 as she is knowledgeable will paint you a picture of Dec 7th while you view the actual locations. Not to be missed! Do this after you visit the USS Arizona...

Pretty neat experience. For $25/$35 you can ride an elevator up to the top and take a look around. They ask that you don’t take pictures of the naval shipyard which is unfortunately right in front of the city and diamond head. Also beware the babies are NOT allowed to go up. Have to be a certain height due to some stairs that you have to climb at the end. And they unfortunately don’t give refunds back if you do have a baby and can’t go. Enjoy!
