I truly believe this to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. From my understanding this is the only Biome in north America in which you can find a rainforest at a mountain elevation. Truly a remarkable place.

If I ever get married, this is currently my top pick for a proposal spot.

I got here late at night, and it was just as sacred and beautiful as in the day time. Lots of stars out, serenely quiet, yet still calming to hear the surrounding wild life. This was a last minute solo trip (with dog), but not once did I ever feel "alone" or "lonley" 🙏🏽✝️

As mentioned by the signs, this is an older part of the forest and you can feel it. Everything around you feels like an ancient forest of what used to be. It very much feels like an enchanted forest from a fairy tail.

In terms of difficulty, this is the most bang for your buck hike I've ever done. minim effort, maximum reward. It's all mostly flat and easy for any fitness level, great for kids, elderly etc. I suppose the only con I can think of is that the gift ship is pretty bear bones compared to something like grand canyon.

A fun fact, the park deems the water that runs through the streams as safe to drink. The glacier flour within the waters is also perfectly safe for consumption. I also suffer from strong nasal allergies due to the crop/air quality in SoCal. Not once did I get allergies here, things are cleaner...

This is currently my highest rated location, ever. I"m only upset I didn't have the time to...

Stunning natural site with multiple hiking trails and guided walking tours. Ignore the literature that says there are no mosquitos because the river is too cold for them to breed in; when we went there were mosquitos and plenty of deer and horse flies, so bug spray is a must take! It is easy to wander off the easy hall of mosses half mile loop and find yourself climbing moderately hard inclines, so be prepared to turn around if you are not a hiker prepared to put some effort into a hike. We originally went just for the east half mile hall of mosses loop and despite following the signs, found ourselves on a much longer much more strenuous loop.

The biggest detractor, though, is the hours long line you wait in in your car before getting to the ranger station where they let one car in for every one car that comes out when the lot is full. They have signs posted along the way telling you how long your wait will be; we went first thing in the morning on a Monday(avoiding the weekend) as soon as it was open and our wait was an hour and a half. It was worth the wait, especially if you plan to hike one of the longer trails or have never seen any of the temperate rainforest in the...

The Hall of Mosses trail is a must experience!! There is a cute little visitor center with information and some gift items such as post cards, books, and other miscellaneous items. The trail is right next to the visitor center, and there is plenty of parking available. The trail itself is super short and easy. It's definitely beginner friendly with not much incline and clearly defined walkways. Along the trail, there are informational signs and poems. The atmosphere is Ethereal and to die for. The trees are absolutely stunning. We didn't see any elk or slugs, but we did see plenty of butterflies and mushrooms. You really feel like you are stepping into another realm altogether on this trail. It's breathtaking how tall and majestic the trees covered in moss are. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and I've lived all over the United States! I highly recommend you check it out if you get the chance. We will definitely go back for a weekend sometime and check out the other trails the park...

Headed to Olympic NP? @mindyonthemove has you covered with some great places to visit while you are there. What are some of your favorite Olympic NP spots? ▪Hoh Rainforest - hike the Hall of Mosses / Spruce Nature Loop⠀ ⠀ ▪Sol Duc Falls - a short, 1.1 mile hike (but stunning!!)⠀ ⠀ ▪Rialto Beach - be sure to hike to “hole-in-the-wall” and check the tides beforehand (not accessible at high tide).⠀ ⠀ ▪Lake Crescent - found the most gorgeous sunset spot here at Bovee’s Meadow (a little beach area).⠀ ⠀ ▪Ancients Groves Trail - near Sol Duc Falls⠀ ⠀ ▪Mt. Storm King - a hard, but very rewarding, 4.1 mile hike with sweeping views!⠀ ⠀ ▪Hurricane Ridge - (hike: Sunset Point, Klahhane Ridge and Hurricane Hill! Hike Obstruction Point if you want an epic, longer journey)!⠀ ⠀ Time permitting, add these spots to your list, too:⠀ ▪Beaches: Shi-Shi Beach, Ruby Beach, 2nd beach and Kalaloch Beach (be sure to go find the 𝙏𝙧𝙚𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚)! There’s also plenty of beauty to explore in the Quinault Rainforest as well! ⠀ ⠀ ✨Not in the national park (but nearby) is the ABSOLUTELY CAN’T-MISS…. 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙚 𝙁𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙮 😍!! 4-Day Olympic National Park Itinerary 👇👇 Start in Seattle and pick up a sprinter van from @cascadeadventurevans. Renting a van made this trip a lot more affordable as opposed to staying in Airbnb’s or National Park lodges. It also made the trip a lot more comfortable as opposed to tent camping - especially traveling with our two pups! ⛴️ The easiest way to get to Olympic National Park from Seattle is via the Edmonds-Kingston Ferry then driving to Port Angeles from there. Day 1: Port Angeles and Lake Crescent 🌆 Walk around downtown Port Angeles and grab a bite to eat 🏔️ Hike Mount Storm King 💦 Visit Marymere Falls 🏕️ Visit and camp near Lake Crescent (Fairholme Campground is a good option) Day 2: Olympic National Park’s Coast 🌊 Visit Rialto Beach (pro tip - visit at low tide and hike out to Hole-in-the-Wall) 🌊 Visit La Push Beach 🐶 If you have a pup, stop at Ruby Beach - it is dog-friendly! 🌲 See the Tree of Life at Kalaloch Beach 🍽️ Grab dinner at Kalaloch Lodge 🏕️ Camp at Kalaloch Campground Day 3: Explore Forks and the Olympic National Park Waterfalls 🧛 Drive into Forks and explore the town - all you Twilight fans, I am talking to you! 🌧️ Drive to the Hoh Rainforest and hike the Hall of Mosses Trail 💦 Visit Sol Duc Falls 🏕️ Camp at Fairholme Campground Day 4: Head back to Port Angeles 💦 Visit Madison Falls 🌄 Hike to Devil’s Punchbowl 🏔️ Drive up to Hurricane Ridge ⛴️ Head back on the ferry to Seattle! I’m visiting from Australia. Hoh Rainforest was a “must-do” on my itinerary and honestly, I was pretty disappointed when I checked the forecast the day before only to find it was sunny skies most of the day. I wanted the dark & moody experience I kept seeing all over my feed. . Once again nature put me in my place for being a doubter. This was actually an experience I could never have dreamed of. The autumn colours, the leaves falling to the ground as the wind gently blew in through the Hall… that wouldn’t happen on a rainy day. I am forever grateful for this experience 🍂🍁 . 📍 Hall of Mosses - Hoh Rainforest, Olympic National Park. Washington State (for the Aussies that don’t know) . . . . . #pnw #pnwonderland #pnwlife #pnwcollective #pnwdiscovered #pnwadventures #washingtonstate #olympicnationalpark #washingtonexplored #hohrainforest #hallofmosses #fall #autumn #nationalparks #wildernessaddict
