We recently tried a horse for my teen daughter, and it seemed like a great fit. The trial was on a Saturday, so we couldn’t schedule the pre-purchase exam (PPE) until the following week. Unfortunately, we had an unexpected death in the family. With everything going on, I asked Amanda if we could push the PPE to the next Monday and what was needed to hold the horse in the meantime. She said a deposit would be sufficient (see attached text). No problem-we sent it right away. We were serious buyers, and my daughter really liked the horse. The next morning, I received what Amanda called a “deposit agreement,” but what she actually sent was a purchase agreement. It was completely blank and stated the deposit was non-refundable and only transferable to another horse if the original horse didn’t pass the PPE-and even that was entirely at her discretion. In other words, it put all the risk on us and locked us into buying from her or forfeiting the deposit. I told her we weren’t willing to sign a buyer’s agreement before the PPE. She replied that she’d refund the deposit and if the horse was still available Monday we could get her vetted for her already scheduled appointment. She sold the horse a couple days later to another buyer, breaking my daughter’s heart. The contract she sent even encourages buyers to get a PPE before signing. It’s clear she uses deposits tied to purchase contracts as a tactic to pressure buyers into committing before they’ve had a fair chance to evaluate the horse. It’s dishonest and absolutely shady. Proceed with...

As soon as he took some weight he was so challenging and so bad manners. Maybe abused. Be careful before buying. I just lost my money and I had to give away the horse. He...

I bought a gelding from them over the phone. He's here forever. He's every bit as special as they said he was. I have never taken a big risk like this before buying horses but I've made mistakes even when I rode them first so we went for it. Amanda was great to work with. I would buy...
