I enjoyed entering the various buildings to get a glimpse into life on the frontier. One building had memorabilia from the Fort Dodge area and Iowa. Exhibits included 2 different school houses, land Grant office, blacksmith shop, tool shop, general store, newspaper/print shop, native American displays, barracks, etc. Most buildings include printed info and a QR code which links to a video with paid actors who act like tour guides!

There were several gardens that were overgrown. Maybe they could use more volunteers. I was the only visitor the whole hour I was there, but there was an employee in the front office, a staff member who was painting, and several board members who were meeting to organize Halloween activities.

I'm looking forward to visiting during Halloween when there will be a maze and trick...

Enjoyed our time here. There are many buildings with very old things to see. It is basically a museum of the fort. The fort is laid out there also and it was cool to see what the fort really looked like also. There is a lot of history in this place for sure. We enjoyed playing a game of checkers in the general store and play acting being some old settlers! The school and the church were probably my favorite buildings to go and see. There is something to be said about the founders and first settlers knowing and acknowledging that God was needed. Wishing we could go back to the days where God and Creation were taught in our schools. And the importance of family. Overall had a great time here and may go back in the future. Staff was friendly...

Big stuff going down at the Fort Dodge Museum . To day is the last day of the fair...Once apone a time there was a village Not this village because this one is a 19th Century Replica. Vary nice Replica. I have never been in any of the buildings and I have walked by this place every other day or so for the past School year and still I have not stepped foot in the opera house, I'm kinda blunt. I don't like opera. Nothing against the owner that's probably the building I wouldn't even go in. I have walk around the buildings, the store is cool, the black smith shop is neat. All the structures are really neat. If you ever get the chance to visit fort Dodge Iowa maybe I'll see you around. I'll add some photos later. See you...

Stopped on our long road trip. Cute "museum". $10 pp. Give yourself 2+ hours to get through the exhibits. It's really a very eclectic collection of many wars, Indian relics, Iowa and local history, and just miscellaneous stuff. Interesting and well worth the $10 fee. Although the exhibits could really use some TLC, some items were misplaced, some hidden, and there were not that many explanations of the items, which would help explain what things were and when.

Cute simple little stop to let the kids tun around. It's a historic museum. Plenty of artifacts from different time frames. It's cute and the family had fun. I was a bit disappointed to know it doesn't lay at its original location, but I understand. Then to find out there was no original stockade...etc....there really wasn't a "fort" was interesting but worth the stop....just some historic differences.
