We visited August 2024 - Eberhart Point was our 10th stop and the last overlook along the Little River Canyon Rim Parkway. A concrete trail leads you to the overlook. The views of the river may entice you to hike down to the bottom of the canyon, and there is a 1.5-mile out-and-back trail that will take you there. The dirt trail is described as rugged and steep, a moderate hike on the way down, but strenuous going back up. It was summer and very hot, so we decided to try the descent on a cooler day. Eberhart Point also has a large parking lot, restrooms, and a picnic area.
Historically, the area on the preserve was home to Canyonland Park, a short-lived amusement park with rides and family fun activities on top of the mountain, and a chairlift that took visitors from Eberhart Point to the canyon bottom. Remnants of the amusement park are visible in the area.
