I went this past July and as you can see, the beach was not crowded at all. During early morns and even throughout the day, dolphin activity can be spotted here. That was fun. However, when I went to the beach to watch the sunrise, I did see sharks gliding along the shore feeding as well. Now, the sharks that I saw were not big, but big enough to keep me out of the water. Lol.
I did go to Jenson beach, which was maybe a 20 min drive from this beach. Upon arrival, it was storming and lightning so ended up leaving. I did note that that beach was certainly busier than South Beach Park.
Also, do bring bug spray as the midges are terrible early morning and at dusk.
But I’d definitely go back! The area is lovely and fresh coconut can be found right on the ground. Oh, and one more thing, there were African Redhead Agama lizards everywhere at the South Beach area. Read moreVery dangerous 🛑. Kids shouldn’t be allowed. A life guard is needed on duty if anyone is going to be using this beach for swimming or family gatherings. The water isn’t clear at all. Im not sure if that’s a year round thing, or if I went on a wrong day, but the waves are way to rough on that end. Pretty intense, even if you’re a great swimmer, I wouldn’t suggest it. I also wouldn’t suggest going alone. Cool if you just want to sit and watch the waves, but not great for “ swimming “. Perhaps it May be good for light surfing and fishing if you’re into that kinda stuff.🏄♀️ You won’t regret wearing water...

It feel like you have it all to yourself most of the time. I've never seen it full. Maybe 15 people out there at the max. The waves do hit, and there is a drop. Not safe if you don't know how to swim. Plenty of seashells. Nice spot to sit watch the waves and every once in awhile see a dolphin. Also, catching the sunrise...
