When in New Mexico be sure to stop into the “REAL” BILLY THE KIDS gravesite and museum in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. Such a cool Cowboy rememberance. The museum is about $8 to get in and the gravesite is FREE. Well it was free for us cause we went and no one was around. We did a little Billy the Kid action! The museum has so many cool collectibles! Definitely worth the drive and its not that far from Texas! #Billythekid #fortsumnernewmexico #cowboys #history #historytok #travel #traveltiktok #travellife #traveltips #travelbucketlist #traveltexicanadventures Famous last words of Billy the Kid were “Quien es” 🤠

Great little stop off to see the grave site of Billy the Kid. A must for Western fans. The historic center was very small with a few things to look at plus a small gift shop selection. Staff were really friendly. Bathrooms were very clean. Free cold water bottles were a huge bonus!! Gift shop items were small but reasonably priced and picked up a nice pop art magnet. The gravesite is about a 1 minute walk if that and was free!! Very well kept and easy to get up very close to the site (grave stone is enclosed in an iron cage) ppl had left offering on the tombstone, so a little difficult to read some of it. It felt very surreal with just how quiet it was there. There are some other grave markers to checkout there and you can take walk around a bit. Would definitely recommend stopping off here to see the resting place of Billy the Kid…or is it lol!

I personally was super excited to go see Billy the kids grave. I am a huge Billy the Kid and old western history guy. We showed up and there was absolutely no one around. It was closed for the day, but I was still able to walk around the graveyard with my wife and look at, all the people and all the history that was in that graveyard. I found it very worthwhile to go there and I hope other people feel the same.

Just south of the highway. Stop by if you are there just to say you were there. Lots of coins placed on the graves. Must be over $100 there if you were...
