There was a man washing his balls in the water fountain at the children's playground. Thank goodness no children were present. After 5 minutes of washing his balls he stripped down to his undies and bathed the rest of his body. Do not use that water fountain!! For the homeless issue I had to take a star away. That being said..... This park is beautiful and so close to downtown. You can see sunset behind the trees and the fort worth skyline and it makes the perfect place for pictures. If you like hiking it's awesome. There are a great variety of trees and wildflowers. There are little bridges and when it rains there are streams throughout the park. Only thing is be careful and take a friend or some form of self defense because sometimes there are a lot of homeless people here. I love to hike here for 45min then drive 5min down the road to the dog park and play fetch with my dogs and after all that the doggos are tired and happy. You know being from WA this place feels like home because there's lots of pine trees and a few homeless sleeping bags dotting...

This nature area is a hidden gem of Fort Worth! The nature trails give you an opportunity year round to get exercise AND see incredible seasonal plants, trees, flowers, birds, and animals in a natural open space.

Sign up for the email newsletter and get monthly reports on improvements and changes, usually accomplished by volunteers. Volunteer opportunities are always ready for participants. The newsletter shows incredible seasonal photographs of the plants, flowers, trees, birds, insects, and trails. The photos are frame worthy!

The city of Fort Worth and the natural area recently arranged for additional property to increase the total area, making it one of the larger natural areas within a city limits. Even more opportunities to preserve natural features of plants, grasses, open space, and beauty!!

Take your family for a walk or go by yourself with your camera. You will come away with a sense of peace and satisfaction of seeing and participating with nature. You'll be glad this nature area is part...

This is Fort Worth's hidden gem! I can't tell enough people about it! It’s a real HIKE. The trails are challenging -- steep uphills and downhills with loose gravel, etc., so you feel like you're in a much more mountainous area than Fort Worth. Some portions even remind me of Appalachia! There are great views of downtown Fort Worth and the sunset, stream crossings, open prairies with tons of wildflowers in the spring, wooded areas with winding trails...this is my refuge when I need to get away and think and de-stress. You’ll see lots of rabbits and lightning bugs in the summer. The best part is you may THINK you're getting lost back there, but you're never too far from View Street, Meadowbrook Drive, I-30, or Oakland Blvd. Just keep walking and you're bound to find a way out! :) Especially if you're going uphill, that's usually the right direction towards an exit. I love just getting lost back there and seeing what part of the neighborhood I wind up...

*EDIT* The map on AllTrails is now accurate. This may be true for other apps, but AllTrails is the one I use. This is an amazing hiking spot just 10 minutes from downtown Fort Worth. It's pretty hilly, and because of that the trails get very muddy when it rains. The trail map is so inaccurate, it's basically useless. Despite these faults, I have an amazing hike every time I come here. The views are picturesque and the trails are challenging but fun. If you enjoy being lost in nature just minutes from the city, this is your spot.

Beautiful untouched area close to the city. This is rare. Easy to navigate, just as easy to get lost but that's part of the adventure. Encountered wild animal tracks as well as signs of street folks making this place their home. Just wish everyone practiced 'leave no trace' will do my part and bring a trash bag to do a little beautification next hiking trip here. Did a evening hike to see the sun set and it was perfect. Felt safe the whole time and the moon provided more than enough light.
