There are countless trails throughout CO Springs and the neighboring areas, but living in Fountain we wanted something closer to explore. We first walked this trail with a homeschool group, and have been back several times since then. We enjoy the easy hiking and the wide trails, along with access to the water and the mountain views. However, every time we have been here there is TONS of trash in many areas. There are obvious party ares where people have gathered and then left it a mess. The trash on the grounds is disheartening enough, but there's also quite a bit of trash in the river and on the river bank. Most of what we've seen has been there every time we visit, so I know it's not new. It just seems as though the trail could use some care, and perhaps even supervision (which I know can be hard). The trash is a major turnoff for us, but we do our best to overlook it and enjoy nature. It's clear that the water there is contaminated; always oily looking with trash floating around in it. So overall, I do recommend this place for an easy hike, but if you're looking for a place to get in the water, I'd suggest another trail with...

We love taking our dogs on walks and to the dog park here. For the most part the community picks up after themselves. We have had issues with other people's dogs a few times in the past. Its rare and only once in a couple of years has it been harmful. It's common since, but if your dog isn't good with others, maybe keep them on a leash inside the dog park the first few times until you know they are more comfortable. No blame on the owners, you have to remember dogs are still animals just like us. Just pay attention to your surroundings and know your pets so they and no one else gets hurt. Past the dog park is plenty of hiking spots down by the river that are a lot calmer and frankly better than the dog...

Great little area to hang out and fish. There's a playground for the kids to play on. There are gazeebos for get together. There is a trail to walk or run and areas to fish. There are restrooms but they're about as clean as you can expect at a park. We've seen a lot of really fat squirrels there too 😂😂😂 Someone's definitely feeding those suckers. They're pretty plump.and happy looking and if you're not careful they'll actually sneak right up on you when you least expect it. There are sometimes some sketchy people hanging out there especially in the wooded area near the overpass but we have never had any issues. Lots of kids...

📍Fountain Creek Regional Park 15 minutes south of downtown Colorado Springs. This park is full of wildlife. The trails here are rated as easy, so bring the fam and enjoy some bird watching with a picnic lunch. The nature center here also does a ton of kid and family activities throughout the year. #wildlife #heron #turtle #cottonwoodtrees #naturecenter #coloradosprings #fountaincreek #regionalpark #hiking #birdwatching #easyhike #explore #adventure

We parked by the library. It’s a nice walk through the woods with many options to limit or lengthen your journey. We visited to see some Mississippi kites and were not disappointed. Many other bird species with black chinned hummingbirds and yellow breasted chats for good measure. Lots of grasshoppers and butterflies, but some skeeters come out if you hang near some of the wet areas. No bother if we kept moving. Paths are pretty flat so this park attracts runners and joggers along with dog walkers. Overall it’s a great place to enjoy some nature.
