Took a tour with the whole family and it was a great experience! The trip up the mountain was about 10 mins with periodic stops along the way to talk about the history of the mines and property. At the top we could get out and take pictures, they would also offer to take family pictures for you. Then you could stay in the sleigh/wagon or you could sled down. The Sled down was super fun and fast! You got to lay on your belly and steering with your hands like a bike, the hill had lots of fun turns and drops (not scary or hard). Once everyone was down the hill (where the tour started) you had free reign of the property. There was panning for gold inside the large western building, the water was cold, but there were real gold flakes. You could also look and more of the history of the mines inside that same building, with cowboy hats and fake rifles for photo-ops. You could also gold mine in the outside river but it was too cold for us to do that. They also had stuff to make s'mores in the gift shop that came with the tour, there was a real fire that you could roast the marshmallows on, it was great! While exploring more, we found some donkeys to feed and pet and a staged miner's quarters with props to play with, like a squirrel in a pit for stew lol. You could also tube and sled more down a small hill with lots of snow, we loved playing and taking in the sights of the mine. I would 10/10 recommend for all ages. $40/pp is a great price for all...
Read moreGOLD MINE TOUR IS A MUST DO WHEN VISITING!!!!!! I 100% see why you guys have such a high rating and I hope I can do my part to get you to the 5 stars this experience truly deserves. We booked a reservation today after reading reviews. We signed up for the 4pm tour, the drive there is a beautiful one with tons of scenery and neighborhoods that look like they were out of a hallmark Christmas movie. We arrived a couple minutes early where we were greeted with warm welcomes from the staff in the check in/gift shop area. Michael was our guide and to say he was awesome wouldnât be doing it justice. First thing is he involved my son which the two of them seemed to hit it off really well. Not only was he very informative but it was so fun that everyone in my family of 5 (with a 16 year old and 12 year old girls and a 6 year old boy) LOVED IT!!!! And anyone with 3 or more kids knows this isnât an easy thing. We were literally inside a mountain where miners would mine for gold!!!!! How cool is that!?!?!? After a very involved and informative tour Michael then showed us all how to pan for gold!!!! We found some fools gold, copper and other beautiful stones that we will keep Forever!!! Do yourself a favor and regardless if you have kids TAKE THE GOLD MINE TOUR!!!!! Thank you Michael for an unforgettable...
Read moreA must see in Breckenridge for ALL ages ... Fabulous mining experience & tour! We had a group of 10 & got in last minute for a tour (about 1 hour tour, 15/20 min of history & theatrics and 40/45 min walking in mine). The tour was really well done ... had a theatrical performance while describing mining in the old days and you walk 1000 feet into the actual mine itself. We had ages from 3-40+ and everyone had fun. Plenty of space in the mine & you can almost always see the exit (for anyone claustrophobic). After the tour, they show you how to pan for gold in the stream. And they even helped anyone having trouble finding gold pieces. They showed you fools gold (pyrite), real gold flakes, copper & silver. You keep what you find! We stayed panning for gold for 1 to 1.5 hours but could have stayed all day. They have a nice gift shop, old ore chute slide for all ages, great photo spots with Breckenridge mountain in the background, donkeys to help feed, picnic table covered areas, rain boots to borrow for panning gold in their three streams and much more! Remember to bring sweatshirts or coats as it's cold...
