My girlfriend and I had a great experience at the Dreamcatcher. We almost made it into the theater before the three people working ticketing/security insisted on checking my girlfriend’s purse. Never had this happen at a movie theater before. They looked into my girlfriend’s purse to find my water bottle, filled with actual water. The man much larger than all the other men said “No outside drinks or containers in my theater.” Not wanting to be disrespectful in this man’s theater, I chalked it up to this being a security concern. Can’t have people getting high on their own water in the movie theaters now can we?
It was fine though. I went to put my bottle back in the car and to instead get a cup of water from the concessions. A 16oz cup of water at the theater cost $5.50. Incredible. Never before had I been asked so much money for so little water. I was blown away. Thankfully we were only seeing Killers of the Flower Moon which is only 3.5 hours long. Any longer of a movie and I might have had an issue with the way I was being treated.
Once we got seated, the movie started playing. We made it about 60 seconds in before the movie suddenly paused and the lights came on. Had someone else illegally brought their water into the theater? Thankfully not, as the big guy working security came in to inform us that due to technical difficulties, we must all migrate from theater 10 to theater 7. No big deal. We’re in his theater after all and what he says goes. So everyone in theater 10 goes into theater 7. Somehow, theater 7 was almost nearly full, save for the few seats in the front. Very strange considering how there was only supposed to be one showing for 1:05pm. Must have been the projector though. Another thing that was fantastic about theater 7 was how it was about 80 degrees in the theater. I figure that must be good for the pores.
All in all it was an amazing experience. I’m looking forward to coming back. I hope next time I get strip searched or perhaps denied the restroom. After all if I am forced to go in the theater it would only add to the already existing ambience...
Read moreSign at the front said purses and bags subject to search. My girlfriend pulled open her purse to show before the girl asked. Girl replied no need it's not busy. Ummm ok? Got our tickets. Drink and food... Our movie was star wars. 2 hours and 22 minutes long.... I always get an extra large drink so I can use the free refill. An hour into the movie i went to get a refill the girl told me no the soda machine was cleaned up and shut down. I asked if I could get a water then. Also told me no, her drawer was closed. I offered cash or card. I was let down as I like coming here. Always have, but this and the last time I was here were the same experience. Mind you this was at 7 at night when the movie started. I've been here before where the movie hasn't ended til eleven o' clock or so without an...
Read moreThe Dream Catcher Theatre is a pretty good Theatre.. Since the changes from a couple of years ago with new management they were able to keep prices low which is two 👍👍s up! That for being a smaller community her in Espanola to keep prices low really helps the community with people.. There concession stand has a variety of treats and again not too bad in price! The only thing that is a bummer is it sure would be nice too see more movies offered in 3D.. and areas where customers could put there food trays while watching their movies.. The Drink holder is good but it would have been nice to have a place to put the food trays. All in all Dream Catcher is pretty a darn good...
