This is a neat place to visit just east of Capital Reef National Park. It is located just off off Rt 24. Just follow the signs. Here you can see how the Sulphur Creek, snaking its way through many layers of the Colorado Plateau and carving out an 800 foot deep canyon. The scenery is dramatic and photogenic, well worth making the quick roadside stop to visit. Note: You can use the same turnoff for the Sun Set Point trail and viewpoint. Combined this these are very nice places to visit a couple hours prior to sunset, especially if you've spent the day hiking in and around Capital Reef and are making way back to your hotel in nearby Torrey

A shot drive down a gravelly road, this overlook is a quick but fun pit stop if you’re driving through Capitol Reef. The hike to the lookout from the parking lot was just a minute or two and easily accessible by most able bodied people. What I especially liked about this are was that there were several observation decks where you could take some incredible photos and get different views of the canyon. Definitely worth the stop and great if you don’t want to spend a lot of time hiking.

The drive to the overlook was on a bumpy gravel road, but the view was definitely well worth it to me. I loved the explanation and information that was shared and the various views and that it was in a place where you did not have crowds and could enjoy the peacefulness of nature and the various layers and see how it was formed. It is right next to beginning of the park. We visited it early in the morning.

Definitely worth the short drive off 24, and approx. 600ft walk to see the Sulfur river below, and cliff edges across. It is a rather quick stop see great views and take some get great pictures. We came here 2 years ago in a 32ft RV and couldn’t go because the gravel road has a vehicle length Max. Now that we have ventured out there, I suspect it is due to the limited space to park and turn around at the end of the road. I suspect a longer vehicle should be able to make the road just find, and possibly do a 3-point turn in the parking lot, assuming it is not too busy. It also is not a long drive, only about 0.8miles from turnoff, so you could walk to it if you are in a...

One of the most beautiful spots in Capitol Reef that I've seen yet. A real treat for those interested in geology, you can see all the layers of rocks. I had fun theorizing about how all the formations were made. It looks like the canyon was once filled with water - you can even see the unique formations on the rocks where the water once lapped up against it. You can hike on the side of the cliff to look down and get a better view of Sulphur Creek at the bottom, and the Moenkopi formation on the side layers. But there's also a part with a railing which is perfect for families with...
