Ideal time to go is a couple hours before sunset. The mountains cast long shadows on the cliffside. Be sure to look behind you too. Pretty views on the opposite side. Hike is pretty easy, but there is some minor rock scrambling. 10 minutes at a fast pace. 20 minutes if you're taking your time (one way). Some benches with nice views along the way. Place is prettier in winter IMO.

Very easy 1/3mile trail. Startedtrail at 19:00 with 2 kids (6 & 4 yrs old) and get to the point at 19:10. it was just 10 minutes trail,but view was a lot better than panorama point. Took a kids picture with beautiful sunset for 25 minutes and get back to parking lot at 19:45. i do recomend this place!!

You can drive past Panorama Point to Goosenecks and Sunset Point - very short and manageable walks to both. Sunset Point was one of the more impressive vistas that we have seen in the US National Parks, and is highly recommended. Make sure you climb up on the rocks there for the best view.

You can drive past Panorama Point to Goosenecks and Sunset Point - very short and manageable walks to both. Sunset Point was one of the more impressive vistas that we have seen in the US National Parks, and is highly recommended. Make sure you climb up on the rocks there for the best view.

ARRIVE AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE SUNSET. The purpose of the "sunset point" is not to watch the sunset itself. It is to watch the capitol reef landscape reflect the evening sunrays. About 30-40min before the official sunset time this is over due to shadows.

As a bonus you will have the view almost to yourself. Everyone else is...
