Mostly flat or low incline for about 1.5 miles until it becomes a single track bicycle path to the summit. Poorly marked trail, with the more direct (right fork) of the two paths to the summit closed off for construction. But you'll only find that out when you get there as there is no information or signage to warn you before. It could be a much better trail with a few more trail signs and distance markers, and also some historical plaques to describe what the various historical sites are along the way. There are the remains of a large mill (I think) along the lower Chase Creek trail near the creek but nothing to tell you what it is. Too bad Black Hawk, this could be a much more interesting hike with more of that information along the way. Otherwise quite pleasant for walking for the first 1.5 miles one way with return on the same path. BTW all dogs...

Very nice MTB trail system, well marked and hard to get lost. I took the Easy Money trail and returned on the Paymaster, which I would rate as blue/black instead of green/blue. Nothing crazy but some tight switchbacks on the way down. A lot of work has gone into making every inch of it flow, and you just want to fly down at top speed. There are some hikers/pedestrians on them, though. I think it would have been better to segregate the hikers and MTB'ers on different trails, since they are definitely made for high...

It's so beautiful, and I know I won't be back on a Saturday. Is there a speed limit for mountain bikers? Would they follow it? I had my 3 and 9 year olds with me, and I was actually afraid they would be hit as we walked along the trail (to the right like we're supposed to). We found a nice spot to sit and do lessons, and bikers came down the hill so fast we had to move for fear of being wiped out if (when) one crashes. It does seem like the bikers think they have the right of way/precedent over the hikers....

Beautiful yellow aspens with a view! I did this trail for my second mountain bike ride - Easy money trail. It wasn’t easy for my second ride ever but it was a good trail to learn and push myself through discomfort. Singletrack/narrow. Some sharp curves. Incline 829’ up. 7.8 miles. Did not have a problem finding a spot at the free parking lot but i believe i might have gotten lucky. There is a bathroom at the trailhead. It wasn’t too crowded for a perfect weather Saturday afternoon.
